A visit to the Paratroop Regiment in Phom Penh
      #251383 - 01/08/14 07:27 AM

Cambodia - Paratroop Regiment, AKs, M60s, RPG & Blowing up stuff

A visit to the Paratroop Regiment in Phom Penh, and having a go with a AK47, M60, throwing a couple grenades and a couple RPG7s.

I can't believe I never added the photos here before! But can't find them using search so here goes.

Weapons displayed in the indoor range of the Paratroop Regiment, Phnom Penh.

An Aussie hamming it up.

At the mountain shooting range, arming an RPG7 rocket.

Getting the munitions ready is a whole family affair.

The goods ready to go.

Having a shot with the AK47. A few mags worth of auto fire.

Shooting the M60. Apologies for the photo, always good to have a professional cameraman along.

One of the Aussies about to try out a grenade. It was thrown for the two other Aussies into the pool. I got to throw mine properly. Hopefully a video to come will work.

Just a couple of little travel souvenirs to be made into key rings. Grenade pins from a couple of grenades I had fun with in Cambodia.

Nice. I think I have seen a Youtube video of a yank throwing a hand grenade into that same pool. He didnt seem to take it seriously until it went off.

Fascinating bunch of old M16's and shorties there!! Wow the history and stories there....

Shooting that stuff is interesting.

In Vegas I shot some old historical full autos. An interesting experience.

A BAR, a Russian PPS-43, a German MG42 and a German Sturmgewehr 44.

Looks like a fun day. Thanks for the pictures.

Oh, Nitro..........that's not an M60.
It's a Soviet PMK.

I know M60s. I carried an M60 for 6 months. It was fun, ------------ for about 10 minutes.
The remaining time it was very heavy, and hard to run with.

Yes I looked at the pictures and myself thought, is that an M60 at all? Why do I think it is? It doesn't look like one?

I did shoot an M60 in Vietnam at a range, so maybe was being confused when posting these photos. I have those photos somewhere to, one or two, maybe if the "photographer" took them.

I also remembered my left shoulder being hit by the ejected brass bases when firing the machine gun. Left a nice cut in my skin and bruise even through the shirt. I would have thought an M60 ejects to the right? Correct me if wrong.
