I feel no bolt actioned rifle is worth that amount of money.

Personally, I would much rather have a lovely Dorleac and Dorleac rifle for less than 1/2.

What people often do not realise is whack good engraving on a rifle and the price can go way up.

The wood is pretty good too.

At A$48,000 a hefty price tag though.

Even then I would have to think about it.. sorry, for me, great to look at but would never spend $$ like that on a rifle of this type.. beautiful double maybe.. and that is a BIG maybe..each to their own..

It IS a beautiful rifle.. but????

I'll take a $4-6,000 rifle and spend the rest on hunting..makes much more sense to me.. but, again, if this is your cup of tea, buy two..

I'd rather have one of these, and it's a lot cheaper ...

rule 303,,,now that new mag mausers are being made again and pushed out like i never thought id see and a lot of them have the same look ,same scope base, same front sights and barrel sling swivel the only difference is this is probably factory engraved ,,,like sharps nitro says ,,,i,d rather go for the rigby in the classic setup than this at probably half the price.... carolina sporting arms has a 416 rigby right now serial number mm0029 for 8500usd same gun sans the engraving ...paul

Paul, thanks for that. I do agree with you and I believe there is only one factory turning out most, that being Mauser or what ever there parent company is called. I think the only factory that is different is Heym. Heym certainly have a different magazine box compared to the other 98's.

I stand to be corrected.

I have handled a mates Rigby 375H&H. It is very nice, however for the price I could have a custom made rifle that is better in that the stock would fit me perfectly, the weight/balance would suit me better and the wood would be far plainer by a country mile and an dull oil finish. This is my liking in stock wood (bit like the working rifles Rigby use to make). The only draw back comes when I want to sell it as it would not fetch the price the Rigby would
