Walther-introduces-shoot-it-love-it-buy-it-program....

Walther has introduced an innovative consumer program that shows how confident they are in their flagship model, the PPQ series of handguns. This program is called: Shoot It. Love It. Buy It. There are essentially two parts to this program.

30-Day Money Back Guarantee

Wherever you decide to buy a new PPQ handgun, online or in-store, it’s covered with this guarantee. If you don’t love it within 30 days, visit ShootItLoveItBuyIt.com and go through the “return your gun” process. Walther will provide a shipping label to return the handgun. Once received at Walther and inspected, they will issue a full-reimbursement check – including tax -- for what the buyer paid for the PPQ.

Try Before You Buy

At select dealers across the United States, which are listed on their website, you can take home a Walther PPQ handgun for 30 days with no money down. All you need to do is visit ShootItLoveItBuyIt.com and apply for a voucher. When you apply for a voucher, Walther will pre-authorize your card for $1000. This is not a charge; it’s only to make sure you have a valid card. Once this happens, you will be emailed a voucher number. Take the voucher number to the closest participating dealer near you, pick out the model PPQ handgun you want to try out, and give the dealer the voucher number. You will still need to fill out the standard 4473 background check paperwork. Once completed and approved, you can take home the Walther PPQ Handgun and shoot it as much as you like.

Now conclusively proving beyond the shadow of a doubt that these plastic-fantastic bullet hoses cost about 75 bucks to manufacture.

LOL.

back in the early nineties I heard a story that the russian - all steel - makarov pistol cost 6-7 $ in production.
thinking 75$ for a plastik pistol is a lot of money.

That was Soviet Economics, lanc.

It's actual cost was $7,789.50.

Could be, but literally I have no idea how one could cost a manufacturing process under the old system.

Today maybe...

by the way, I have owned a couple Maks and they were dead accurate and dead reliable.

Back on topic, this is an interesting marketing concept.

I wonder if any others will glom on to it.

And if sizeable numbers of guns are returned, what do they do with them? Sell them cheap as "slightly used"?

this was told in 1993/94 iirc, so not real soviet times anymore

no wonder the mak is a good pistol, just because it is another Walther PP clone
probably the best design in the history of self loading pistols

I wondered the same thing.. what will happen to the returned models??

I think they are banking on the fact that 1. They receive high reviews and its a good product. As such very few will be returned 2. Most folks are busy and wont take the time to actually return them. Look at the redeemable coupons.. something less than 50% are actually used with the printed..digital is another story with it being closer to 80%.. but in this case you will have to take the weapon to a UPS or whatever and mail it back.. so time and effort.. ?? Just speculating..

Interesting, and yes, the clonish Mak is a great pistol. Triggers far superior to any Walther I've ever handled but IIRC the firing pin is positive so carry with one up the spout might be less than desirable/safe.

Sounds like good speculation on your part. I bet you are right.

My guess is the will be resold as factory refurbished. Lots of Sig P320s available that way.

Sounds like a good programme to me. I am not interested in acquiring a model of handgun, that I have not shot, and preferrably shot more than once.

An excuse for me not acting to actually acquire one ...

However I have found, even I like a certain handgun, I might shoot another model or brand far far better. The results show which is the better one.

Such a programme as above, if it was impossibly available here, would actually get sales. Not sure about plastic handguns either btw ...

Here in the states there are many public ranges {many indoor} where guns can be rented. Thus a guy that is interested but not sold on a model can try it, see if they like it, and then buy it if they do.

The thing about the Walther program that interests me is that I have VERY often had problems with new manufactured firearms. Of course, the good companies will take them back and "repair" them but that is not always satisfactory. Having the ability to simply dump a lemon would be a nice option.

Exactly--the new indoor range in my town allows you to shoot S&W's, Sig's, Glocks, H&K's, and Walthers already..just rent them for a day.. cheap--like $20..so a very good option, especially on a handgun..
