Four From Across the Pond
      #324550 - 12/02/19 12:39 AM

I had them out for a little quality time yesterday and snapped this photo with my phone.  Enjoy!

From top to bottom:

Alexander Henry .450 3-1/4" Express made in 1871;

John Rigby & Co. .40-70 SBN made in 1880;

Army & Navy Farquharson .450-400 3-1/4" Nitro Express made in 1911; and

Fraser .303 made around turn of the century.

The Henry got some range time on Saturday.  Quite a pleasure to shoot. Perfect black powder loads, of course.

Roscoe started it, so I figured I would add to it.
...2 MORE FROM ACROSS THE POND

2 feet of snow here, so I can only take them out and wipe them down.
- 1902 Webley .577 3” 90-650 Cordite Rifle circa 1912-15
- Cogswell & Harrison .500/.450 #1 BPE from circa 1872

Mike,

Great contribution! Maybe others will join in.

I think I need a Webley.

Curl, I can oblige on both points...

It will be good to get a good ol show and tell going.
I think the full length photos are excellent to have too.

Thanks!

The A&N had its day in the sun at this thread: http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat....8&fpart=all

It really looks much better in proper light than it appears in the photograph at the beginning of this thread. For some reason the incoming light in the above photo of the four made the wood look washed out in the eye of my phone camera. it's really quite well figured and colored.

Isn't that the truth - might have to make another trip to Virginia, if that happened.
Besides there were a bunch of guns I didn't get to shoot.

Cap Curl that first Henry is backwards. It must have been made for those boys down under.

The left hand lock makes it easier for a right handed shooter to load and unload the rifle.

Kirby has tried to sell me a couple of south paws but I wouldn't bite. All of mine have the hammer on the right side or in the center. May be I am missing something.

Holy heck those are some awesome rifles, I was thinking I might put a few of my old buggers up, but I'm too embarrassed now !!

I really wish I had bought the AH Hammered under lever in .577 I saw a few years back & just recently one bored out to 20ga, brought tears to my eyes ... like seeing all these beauty's !

Sensational collection and well presented for us to all have a drool over. I particularly like the 256 Dutch Gibbs but I would happy with any of them. Fantastic.

Matt.
