Kurz Original Mauser going 250-3000 by DORLEAC & DORLEAC
      #324572 - 12/02/19 04:40 AM

Having sold my tack driver Creedmoor Kurz Mauser to a friend whose I cannot refuse anything => http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat....rt=all&vc=1 I realized that I could not live without one of these Mauser Kurz rifle I like so much.
Being lucky to still have in stock an excellent original square bridged kurz action I decided to return to fundamentals by opting for the classic 250-3000.
I'm not a fan of too short barrels that's why I chose a 24½" Lothar Walther match grade barrel blank with 1/10" twist to be able to use 120 grains bullets.
Having in hand a type A Mauser rear sight taken from a salvaged rifle the front sight was built according to this element and each folding leaf patiently regulated (…at least for the first three!) at the range.
Now finished in white I'm not sure that this Kurz Mauser requires an ornamental engraving but I leave myself a moment of reflection for this subject.
As for the scope, Kahles having unfortunately ceased the commercialization of its 2-7x36 CT and Swarovski suspending the production of its Z3 and Z5 scopes I will opt for one of their light 3-9 x36 Z3 which I made available before they can not be found anymore (I have ordered a batch of Z3 and Z5 the very day that I learned about their disappearance from the range of Swaro scopes)
I will appreciate your comments on this project.

Regards to all.

Another wonderful piece of kit again Mr D!
Shame about your initial scope choices, (great scope the 2x7 range)a smaller light rifle deserves a more petite set of optics.

Congratulations....I was very pleased to see you retaining one of the three original chamberings. It does add to the history of these now very scarce K actions.

Is the ring matting original or does it require annealing?

Daryl,
It's hard to say at this point.
The price of original kurz action is very high now, especially the square bridge ones.
Honestly I think it will end with a final price around 20K-€.

From the 1939 Stoeger:

Per usinflationcalculator.com , $170. USD in 1939 would equate to $3,078.49 today.

The $80 1939 price of a 250/3000 action would be $1448.70 in 2019 USD (per usinflationcalculator).

Such a fine work of art! Thanks for showing it to us.

I do believe it will benefit from some tasteful engraving.

I notice the safety is engraved in English - the rifle must be for me!

If only I could post photos. I have a magnificent 1940s Kurz action 250/3000 pot rifle by holland. The prettiest guns imaginable. I have a spare action (mauser rifle scoped) I should get dorleac & dorleac to produce a masterpiece with. It is chambered in 6.5 x 54.

Here's a previous post describing how to post photos to NitroExpress by using the 'site, Bilder & Foto (picr.de):

October 30, 2018.

How to Post Photos to NitroExpress - Revised

Looking for a very simple to use, free hosting site that works on NE?

This photo sharing site works: picr.de . They now require registration, but there is no charge to use their basic service.

I had posted complete (easy, free) instructions previously, they have now changed to an even easier system where you simply 'drag and drop' your images to post.

Here's how:

1) Go to picr.de, translate if necessary (it's in German but is very to use even if you don't sprecken Deutsche).

2) Go to your stored images (with picr.de still open, both displayed on your screen) and 'drag' desired photo to the shaded area on the picr.de screen. Repeat as necessary for additional photos.

3) After picr.de lists the coded filenames of the photos (they will appear as lines of text on picr.de screen), highlight them, press 'control - C'. They are now ready for transfer.

4) Compose your post on NitroExpress, go to and click 'Image'. Delete 'http//' highlighted in box. Press 'Control - V', then the 'OK' box which will transfer images to your post.

Your images will post for all to see.

The image above was posted using picr.de as described.

Here's the link: picr.de

Rothhammer1 appreciate your effort. I have tried this site before and it is beyond me. It requires a degree of computer savvy skill, I just can’t follow it. That said there are many sites I can post photos on, I just wish this site was one of them. One day I will get there.

C, I will try to talk you through it on the phone. I know you telephoned me sometime last year to do this after several invitations. At the time it was possible for me, I forget when it was.

We can arrange a time. I will put together a set of notes and a web site for you to use.

Most of those "sites" you use I think are all on facebook. Facebook makes it easy to give them your photos, as they are a major user and abuser of photos from all around the world. Part of their business model. Most of the person photos now seen on TV news come from people's own facebook profile pages, which fb sells to TV and other media.

I do wish we had a very easy way to post photos here right now too however.

Lovely rifle as always Joel. Thank you for posting the in the white images. Please post the end result photos as well.

I would like to also see a scoped rifle image.

A little .250 Mauser like this needs a petite scope.

It is a real pity the good Euro scope makers are all putting on the lard, getting wider, fatter and heavier. Especially when so many of these scopes end up on thin multi barreled rifles and combinations which are often light weight to start with.

The demand must still be there for petite, light scopes well balanced for many of the rifles still owned and being made. At least one hopes eventually these are catered for again.

Superb rifle once again, the single square bridge and the lever floor plate really suit the overall design perfectly. Looking forward to seeing the rifle finished, thanks again for posting.

Matt.
