FINALLY ... I found an A-Square 577 Tyrannosaur - "The Mighty 577 T-REX"

Hello All,

Well, after searching for several years, I finally found one and bought it. But, not without the help of a fellow forum member who saw my want-ad, and posted the link to the seller. I'm sure many of you had seen my want ad.

http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=319565&an=0&page=0#Post319565

I was somewhat apprehensive about the purchase because of the seller's description. He stated that it had a 20" barrel, weighed 12 pounds 13 ounces, and had a 3-shot capacity. I knew the History of the 577 T-REX rifle and knew that information in the ad didn't match a true A-Square T-REX. Based on the "all-to-reasonable" selling price, I was afraid this might have been some kind of a knock-off using an original A-Square action & stock. - However, it wasn't. - It was a real "T-REX".

The Barrel length was 24", the weight was a touch over 14 pounds, ( 14-3/4 pounds loaded ) and the capacity was 4 rounds. ( 1-up and 3-down )

And, as per Factory specs, it has "3" Mercury Recoil Reducers built in. Two in the Butt Stock, and one in the Forearm.

This rifle also has the "Appearance Package" which consisted of an upgrade to "Fancy Wood" and an "Ebony Forend Tip."

I love watching the video from a few years back. Its gone Viral with over 3,000,000 views.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrImp-ek3bI

The gun looked good in the seller's ad, but only when I got it in hand, did I see the beauty of the stock.

If it doesn't snow, I'll shoot it tomorrow.

As always, your comments are welcome. .........

Hello lanchaster,

Thanks for the reply.

Its either P-14 or P-17. I don't know how to tell the difference.

I watched the full video.......man that is some recoil to contend with!
One bloke had it perfectly under control, let's just say the rest weren't so experienced.
It must be one tough rifle Buckstix, it's spent a fair bit of time on the deck.
You'll have to get another video made of you shooting T-Rex & of it finally being tamed.
Not envious of you on this one!

Weather report says 18f, cloudy but dry.

Did you get out to shoot today?

Hello 93x64mm

Thanks for the reply

I was hoping when I bought the rifle, it wasn't the one used in the video. I'm sure that one is all dinged and dented. Luckily, this one is MINT, and as one would expect, very little fired.

Seedy's old videos.

Yep, one bloke knows how to shoot. Some put the butt half off the shoulder at the top. Some on their arm and not the shoulder. These guys usually have the rifle flying out of their hands over the shoulder.

Other guys take the recoil but it obviously does hurt them.

That one guy was really good.

I don't think I would shoot it at the bench. That must hurt.

There is another old video where a couple of Norwegian guys shoot it with zero problems.

BTW 'Seedy' has reportedly two sets of ammo. One set loaded for more recoil than the other.

But the guys shooting it well also use the full powered loads.

Nice walnut figuring on the rifle. With good straight grain through the pistol grip for the recoil.

Hello NitroX,
Thanks for the reply.

I also heard that he removed all 3 recoil reducers, and used a MAX load for the unsuspecting shooters.

Ive watched the video before and my first thought then was the same as now; most of the guys shooting it arent exactly what I would call "shooters"

Bro its a beautiful rifle and an unbelievable price.
