Glocks NEW pistol designed to be LEGAL IN CANADA...
      #322980 - 04/01/19 12:44 AM

Several friends have sent me info on this, including Daryl while on vacation in Hawaii..
Anyway, find it very interesting and happy Glock is going after this market..

Surely this will piss of Trudeau and his liberal buddies which makes it worth it all by itself..

Yes, it is. Perhaps I will have to purchase my 1st 9mm, after all.

LOL You would not believe the thousands and thousands of rounds of once fired 9mm fed brass that goes into the garbage or odd guy takes it by the bucket-full to Allan's Salvage in town for a couple dollars per pail. Would still rather it was in .45ACP.

Good to see. In Aust the min barrel length is 122mm . Hence the Glock 17A. The mags are 10 round. They are double stacked but have a fixed spacer at the bottom of them.

A bit of marketing spin by the Canadian distributor. The Glock 48 isn't the first Glock to be civilian legal in Canada. The G17 etc all meet the barrel length requirement, and models with 10 rd mags have been factory standard since the days when the US flirted with limiting mag capacity. Likewise the G48 wasn't designed for Canada. It was designed for the concealed carry market in the US which wanted the slim grip that goes with a single stack mag.

ps. In Australia the minimum handgun barrel length for a target shooter is 120mm.

Glock is going to have to step it up a bit --Sig's model 320 and 365 are showing up in a lot of the old GLOCK haunts.. the Sig 365 was voted as HANDGUN OF THE YEAR by several mags...personally been carrying the 365 for the past 2 months..nice little gun, easy to shoot, holds 12+1 and very concealable.. kinda like my American Express card, never leave home without it..

AS to the U.S. flirting with the mag capacity thing --that was Clinton in the 1990's..if you remember correctly, he flirted with everything, not just Monica..

G'Day Fella's,

Thanks for sharing Ripp.

Not unlike the Glock G17 A ("A" for Australia ....... apparently, with 120mm long barrel and 10 shot mags).

Ripp,

To purchase any pistol in Aust. you need to be a member of a Pistol Club for at least 6 months, attend a number of shoots (how many I can not remember). Then fill out a a fair bit of paper work, apply for and get your pistol licence, then you can apply to by a hand gun. Least ways that's what I had to do back in the early 90's. In some place your first handgun had to be a 22 unless you already carried a handgun for work.

It will vary a little from state to state.

Forgot to add. Be interviewed by the local Police Sargent after your application for the licence went in.

Ripp that process may well have changed but it wont be by much. Now to renew your pistol licence - 5 years in Queensland- you need to attend a minimum of 6 shoots a year and all have to be recorded and 8 shoots if you have more than one calibre. Club has to keep record of your scores.

As I have stated so many times before, what do you suppose they (governments) are so scared of to have their populations armed?? What do they have planned that they feel all firearms need to be removed from private hands??

Absolutely.

As your article on the Chicago Alderman says, they are just anti-gun for you and me!

As stated earlier--GLOCK is going to have to pick up their game in lieu of Sig's inroads in the past few years..this is another example they are realizing this as well..10 round compact vs the previous 6 round mag--mmmmm, let me think, oh, its Sig 365 that has a 10 and 12 round mag..

The new Glock 43X model..
https://www.shootingillustrated.com/articles/2019/1/3/new-for-2019-glock-g43x/

You don't suppose they come out with the 43X to compete against the Sig 365 do you???

Got a new Glock 48 into the shop today. They have a pretty good feel to them. I played around with it, swapped the top end with my 43. Makes for an interesting pair. I need to put some Cerakote on it but I’ll probably stipple the frame first.

No, the sights are from the factory. They have two configurations out right now, one with the Ameriglow sights and one with standard sights.

The only things I liked about the glock was the mag release and the price I was paid for it, the only thing in my opinion in favor of the glock is its corrosion resistance, as far as a usable side arm there are far better out there that you don't have to spend money on to make them usable.

I read this and thought WOW, me too. I don't own any. But dislike the Glock, don't like it much at all. And much preferred the CZ 75 I used and the STI Trojan.

It seems that is the story with Glock..people either love them or hate them.. I used to be a hater..but, now appreciate their reliability..yes there are others that feel better in the hand..but not sure I know of any that I have owned that are more reliable..

Personally have fired thousand and thousands of rounds through a glock, mine or otherwise..not sure I have ever had a failure ..

I have several retired special forces buddies.. all carried a Glock 43 for deep cover..all --well, all until Sig come out with the 365..now several have moved to that one..

Have another buddy who worked for the Dept of Homeland Defense.. he was given 30 days to beat the crap out of a model 17 by his superior.. He told me he fired over 50,000 rounds through it, drove over it, threw it into walls, into rivers, et..was ultimately unable to get it to fail.

I do like the 320 as mentioned by 9.3, however do not like the higher bore axis compared to the Glock and some others.. I have 320 also but have also been lesst than pleased with this one issue on the Sig models..the only one you don't notice that on is the model 365

Personally I like the H&K VP9 out of the last batch purchased in the past few years..very accurate, feels really good in the hand, and no issues as well to reliability thus far.. but only have about 2500 rounds through mine..

Another I like but gets little to no mention is the S&W 2.0.. feels great in the hand, very accurate, and also reliable.. MY EDC handgun for years was a S&W Shield..

I still carry my P7M8 when the weather permits. Otherwise the little titanium S&W snubie in 357 Mag gets the nod.

I just don’t like the Glock but have to admit they are hell of a reliable ugly pistol.

Please define usable.

In many tests the most reliable pistols have been, Browning Hi Power, Colt 1911, Glock and the CZ75 none of the other matched the reliability of these.

Some others are more shootable to the individual. To me the Glock has the worst grip angle of the ones I have listed, not to some others. The RAAF (as told to me by those who tested the various pistols brought in to trial) put around 3 million rounds through the first G19 they brought in for testing. When i saw it it was still going strong after the various springs had been replaced. They had been replaced a few times as it is use that kills springs.

For anyone interested, the 15 round Shield Arms magazines for the G43x/G48 are finally available. I just received a couple but haven’t been able to shoot with them yet. All reports so far say the perform fine.

No surprises on the Shield mags, they are made by Checkmate Industries who supply the U.S. military with the M-14 mags, Top quality! I went to a G48 for daily carry over my 19 and could not be happier. Slim and compact, carries and conceals well. As a diehard 1911 fan, it took a while to get used to the idea of a Glock, but their reliability out of the box is outstanding and if one of mine got lost or stolen, I can just go buy another. If I lost one of my custom 45's, I'd be heartbroken!
