New 2018 Bench Rest 5-shot Record .1 MOA at 1000 yards

I was wrong - the new record, shot this year at a registered match was 1.058" for 5 shots & it was with a 6BR Ackley IMP. As well, it was shot on a scoring target and made 50 5X.

World Record-Setting Cartridge and Load
Mike was shooting a 40-degree Improved version of the 6mmBR Norma cartridge. Long popular with Benchrest and 300M shooters, the 6mmBR was the original inspiration for this website. Yep, we started as www.6mmBR.com. The Improved version has extra capacity, allowing about 100 FPS more velocity when chambered with a long throat. For his record group, Mike shot Vapor Trail 103-grain bullets in Lapua brass. He loaded Hodgdon H4895 powder with CCI 450 (small rifle magnum) primers.

Of course. I use more of it than any other, of course, it has a Hodgdon label.

Yeh, it's just wrong isn't it. Made here, shipped half way across the world and it's still cheaper than we can buy it at. I saw the same pricing at a Cabela's in Colorado in August too. Makes you sick.

Yes that is amazing. As a Ftr class competitor we still pull targets at ranges that do not have electronics. There have been days at practice and matches where I pulled targets using the 3" spotter and I know the shooter has hit the spotter 5 times in a row. Now not as small as the record but still and accomplishment. My claim to fame is I shot out the spindle on the spotter at 1000 yards which means I shot through the same hole 2 shots in a row. Luck perhaps...
Our go to powder is Varget or VV N140, both from overseas.

This was the year for records as last April, the 600 yard BR record was set at .282". I assume that is the official measurement as I seem to recall it was originally listed at .262" or .263".

Re-named ADI powders to H powders cost around $40 to $46 depending on where. The ball powders in H cans are about $35 to $37.

The .222 is becoming my favourite go-to rifle now. Uses 19.5 to 24.5gr. depending on the powder and it really likes the cheaper ones.
