Help with import into Germany
      #320506 - 10/10/18 04:03 AM

So here is a question (not sure where else to turn) that I'm hoping one of our German friends can help me with:

My rifle, a nice M1910, is currently in Texas. I'm currently in Baden Wurttemberg.

I have all the appropriate paperwork to import the rifle into Germany, to include the fact that it is already entered on both my WBK and my EU version of the WBK. In theory, a trip to Texas and checked baggage on the return, and I could simply walk through customs. The earliest I can possibly get to Texas, however, is Christmas, and that's a big if. April of next year is more likely.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a company that would help me ship the rifle here? I'm told Griffin and Howe can help, but it looks like their cost would be over $500. I'd like to try it for a bit less.

Suggestions?

Instead of trying to find an exporter in the US that would have contacts with importers in Germany you may work it the reverse way?
In Germany companies such as Triebel http://www.triebel.de/en/hilfe/export-ewb.htm and Krico http://krico.de/?language=en may probably help you.

Hello Don,

I had the reverse problem this year for shipping two rifles to Australia.

Mr. Paschen from the company "Jagdhaus Wilhelmshöhe" is working with the Holt´s firearms company(details available via PM) and gave very good support. Price was ok.

I am confident that it will function also the other way (goods from US into GER)!

best regards
Rolf

Rolf, I have tried to send you a couple of PMs, and when I do, the system says "your message has been sent", but when I check my sent messages, I do not see them, so I don't know if you've received them.

Yes, I would appreciate any information you have on Holt's, and thank you very much for your help.

I have asked Nitrox about this previously, and he explained thus; After you type in your 'private message', and before sending, notice the boxes above the 'continue' box. They are "I want to keep a copy of my message", "I want to receive a read receipt", and "I want to preview my message".

Checking the first box will send a copy of your message to yourself, which verifies that it has been sent, checking the second box will send you a notification when the recipient opens the message.

I always use box #3 to preview and edit my copy.
