C&H Ball & Shot guns?
      #320289 - 02/10/18 11:20 PM

Iím sure a member here sold one a few years back. Cogswell and Harrison made ball and shot gun? Had a name like a Cosmic or something? Would love pics and more info on them.

Cheers,
Ash.

I'd like to see that as well. I did not know Cogswell and Harrison made such early bore guns? I am only familiar with their 98 Mauser actions rifles.

Thanks Rigby, any pics?

I found this one. Those high rear sights are something I used remember.

Hi Ash, maybe because that is a picture of a Rook Rifle of some type & not a Ball Gun ?

I have seen a few in the past, what are you up to with one, making a bore gun are you ?

Sarg - swipe across. The first pic is a single shot thing, the 2nd pic is a cosmos.

Nah, Iím just researching C&H (for my own interest). Iíll create a similar topic for Lee speeds soon.

That is an absolutely incredible paradox, it has H&H style chokes, I had a conversation about that gun with Seyfried and he committed that it was not only an incredible paradox, but an incredible cogswell. Most comsos had invisible rifling by the chokes if I am correct.

C&H certainly arenít known for being up there with H&H but it seems sometimes they excelled to be.

People often forget that Harrison was head of the Gunmakers guild for a very long time, a few of the best examples of English guns I have seen have been cogswells, including that above paradox.

Edgar Harrison?

Gundog01 - I found the thread about a Cosmos on here. A member purchased it from Sweden. Did you buy yours off of this member?

Cheers,
Troy.

Lot 1209

COGSWELL & HARRISON A 12-BORE 'COSMOS' 1885 PATENT RIFLED CHOKE SHOT-AND-BALL SIDEPLATED BOXLOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 56470,

Those appear to be normal bpe sights. Very nice.
