Am I wrong, or does this ZG-47, have a different bolt shroud/safety arrangment, from usual?

You ain't wrong. It ain't a ZG-47, it's a BRNO 21/22F, depending on who you believe about the numbering system. The ZG47 has a different bolt handle, a different bolt shroud and safety and a large receiver ring. It is also marked ZG47 on the receiver ring.

Very nice rifle - whatever model it is, in an excellent caliber. Good luck on hunting with it as there is obviously space left for more nails on the stock!

Always hunt with a lucky rifle.

Decades ago I had a Ruger 77 30-06 that was unexpectedly very accurate, yet whenever I took it hunting....nothing happened.
So I sold it, and upon its replacement the deer, moose and bears started showing up and I started knocking them down.

Seriously, I believe there is a psychological benefit (that can help lead to hunting success) by hunting with what one believes to be a "lucky gun."

On the other hand, anyone can drive a nail into a piece of wood, and it isn't only fishermen who are prone to a bit of exaggeration.

Very unusual safety, never seen one of these; great positioning - just beside your thumb as you hold the rifle!
Is it down for safe?

Why "definitely"? Because they are claw mounts?
I believe you could order claw mounts installed at the factory on your Brno Model 21.
I have seen many of these on Brno rifles and they all look exactly the same, and all avoid covering
the CZ trademark on top of the receiver ring, unlike the variety in claw mounts installed by
independent gunsmiths. It really doesn't matter much to me whether or not it was installed
at the factory, but I do believe it could be ordered. Do you have
evidence that this was not the case?

I agree with justcurious.
The Hensoldt scope has been fitted in Germany, perhaps by Gustav Genschow & Co.
Claw mounts treatment is typical of German trade.
I have seen and sold a lot of BRNO 21/22 and the factory scoped ones usually bear a Zeiss Jena glass on special mounts of the same kind found later on the ZKK rifles.
However a well done German claw mount is a nice addition on such a fine rifle.

The only Brno 21 I have seen with a mount I thought was factory installed used an SS double claw mount which was made in Czechoslovakia during World War II.

If it has been made during WW2 the receiver followed the traditional Mauser pattern with rounded front receiver ring and no scope rails like the 1945 proofed rifle pictured below.

Some years ago I got a factory engraved special order version chambered in .270W and fitted with a Kahles scope on modified Vienna mounts....all is possible !

DORLEAC, I accept your opinion. I really don't mind if the scope was mounted outside the factory because it was very well done and that is what counts to me.

I have owned several Brno 21F rifles.

- I had a very early post-war version from 1945 in like new condition. I sold it to a Brno 21F collector who unfortunately will likely never shoot it.

- Another one I bought very cheaply (at a small local gunshow, along with a very cheap 1914 Oberndorf Mauser Model S, see last photo)) only to later discover that the Brno stock was cracked in typical Mauser fashion through the area behind the recoil lug with the crack continuing through the rear of the stock and wrist behind the receiver. I could have easily repaired it with glass bedding but instead I sold it (with full "crack disclosure")...This latter rifle (see 2nd to last photo) was lacking the bolt guide rib and clip loading slot, as do many (but obviously not all) Brno rifles of this vintage.

Mr Dorleac
Here's a challenge for you, to make a 'proper' bolt shroud/firing pin assembly that can retro fit the current CZ550 actions so that they can be completely stripped down individually like the conventional Mauser.
I'm not sure if this is possible but will require a lot of thought to do so, the CZ's firing pin assembly is pinned together!
Frankly the 'new' CZ shrouds look out of place, these 'old' look ones I believe are very much more appealing to the eye
