Super trip again Mick, well done, glad you enjoyed our weather, it does make for good deer hunting though. A very nice Fallow deer your son got there with that lovely 264 WM model 70. Fallow make superb eating, especially if shot without knowing about it. They are considered second rate in Victoria as they are not as hard to hunt as Sambar deer, however they are better eating and easier to carry out and keep cool, plus you can often carry them out whole which means you get a lot of different cuts compared to Sambar which are usually carried out in sections as they are a shit load bigger. Great to see that you got another filthy cat as well, disgusting slimey creatures. Super well done and thanks for posting. Go the Woodleigh bullets.

Nice!

What did you hit with the 150gr 308 Hydros?
How did they do?

Used them on the young buff.
I run hydros in most cals I use. The 7mm , 308 , 35, all work well on buff and scrubbers.
The 7mm hydro works well at 7-08 and 7x57 velocities. I try to get plenty of bone with the hydros. they penetrate very deep. Ive only recovered two. A 9.3 286gr out 9.3 x74 and a 225 35 out of a 358 win. Both out of buff bulls.
Cheers Mick

Thanks Mick

What's your 7x57 velocity for the hydro?
I have a 7-30 Waters contender barrel, was thinking about trying the hydro in the single shot pistol.
I think I'm getting 2550 with a 150gr nosler, would have to check my notes. Guessing I'd get a bit more with this bullet.

Cheers

On some forums, people would casually immediately ask "Oh where was that?", then get piffed when you tell them to get lost.

Mick, some good times and fun trips you had in a variety of places.

Who cares what they look like! The performance on game is what I'm interested in. Will see how the rest of the year goes with the hydros. Ill be carrying the Barrett a fair bit this year , liking the light weight . Cheers Mick
