      #317017 - 03/06/18 02:23 PM

Team, does anyone know anything about new Franchi Bavarian Express under and over's in 9.3x74R? I know about the calibre. I want to know about the quality of these double rifles. I understand they make quality O/U shotguns but double rifles ????
Thanks in anticipation

Great round, I don't think you'll be disappointed with it's performance - plenty of the members load for it here so getting info on that will not be an issue for you!

Please excuse me, its obviously I did not make myself clear.

Has anyone actually used or seen a Franchi 9.3x74R Over and under or in fact any sort of Franchi over and under double rifle?
And/or do they know where (apart from the Franchi home page)there might be a review?

Unfortunately Franchi has dismissed the production of this nice double.
I have bought mine three years ago, while Franchi was promoting the double rifle with a nice price. Its price was 1900,00 euros but in that period many gun smiths were selling it gfor 1400,00.
In europe this kind of rifle is mostly used for drive hunts. But in many countries, like Italy, Germany and others, it's legal to hunt with semiautomatic rifles. So doubles are following theyr decline... The last made from Franchi were sent in French, were all ex ordnance calibers are banned and theese rifles still shine.
The strenght of this fine rifle was the good price, the extraordinary ergonomy and the lightness. They used the stock and the receiver of theyr fine .20 gauge. Very inthuitive.
Barrels were made by Sabatti if i remember well.
Right now probably the only double rifle at a reasonable price and good quality is made by Sabatti.
By the way, if you find a franchi double in good condition it's a good choice. If you want to mount a scope i suggest the use of Contessa rapid mount system. You can use a scope, a red dot or only the metallic aims in half a minute. And the zeroing is always perfect.

Thanks for the answer Dotchicco. There are a couple of those rifles for sale here in Australia at a very reasonable price. The problem, at least for me is that they have a Bavarian type stock which I don't like on Double Rifles, otherwise if it had a stock like yours I would buy one straight away.

Well... not a big problem... If you can have it for a good price you can then order the stock and adapt it..

I agree with dotchicco , I've had a couple of guns restocked. It's a shame they don't make this model any more, it's a gook looking double and a great cal.
