This is old news..but happened just the same..saw it posted on FB today..found the link and read up on it..weird, never saw it in our local paper..

Wolves bit up one of my old Girl-friends Arab horses in my pasture back in 2011. I called the cops and they got the Wyoming Game and Fish warden out there. He contacted Federal Fish and Game. They came out, but had already agreed that there were no wolves in this part of Wyoming. Boy were they wrong!
They tool plaster casts of the tracks (5" long 4" wide)and took hair samples from the barbed wire.
Guess what it was--------------
WOLVES!
They ate a big serving of crow and had some humble-pie for desert!

When it was confirmed that the attack was done by Timber Wolves they started to listen to some other land owners along the Wind River who have seen them and had attacks on stock animals. It was going on for over a year before the attack on my land, but my attack was the one that got them to actually look at the evidence.

Now we can shoot them on sight. That was a great change in the law. Before the Wolf was protected and the domestic animals and even the people were not.

For us here, this is the time of year particularly hard on the elk and moose. The surface is frozen in the morning, but the moose and elk are 1/2 way up their bodies in snow.
The wolves simply run up to them, couple hold on and the others have breakfast.

YES..
The local paper here is super liberal..which is one of the reasons its in financial trouble..subscriptions are way down...most people who have lived here for the past 20+ years refuse to support them..

They were actually giving away free subscriptions last fall.. they called me..I told them I would take it but I no longer have a wood fireplace so I don't need the paper to start a fire.. Weird, they never called back..
