Good Hunt with the old Europa 66.
      #312390 - 15/02/18 01:34 AM

Good morning Gentlemen,
I'm simply overjoyed by this morning hunt.
I have spent weeks on elaborating an accurate and powerfull load for the "Grosse Berta" , my old Mauser Europa 66 chambered for the beloved 8x68S.
Finally i catched my goal, with a superb grouping at 100 meters, with a velocity of 970 ms, H Mantel bullet, MRP powder. (All load data without any responsability)
Enough power for pleins game...
By the way, as many times happens in hunting, i had to wait for months before having a field confirm.
Finally today, in a freezy windy morning, i had the opportunity i was looking for. I good female fallow deer, walking in a ruote at 140 meters. Good shot, nice placement, outstanding terminal performance.
Life is good.

Have never used the Mauser 66. That one seems to be the goods, are they generally a sound rifle?. Good eating.

Dotchicco, congratulations on your nice 'Grosse Berta', on your superb grouping and on your hunt; a Mauser 66 always does the job!
Best regards. Louis

Well done Doc!
Good to see all the time freezing your butt off finally paid off, a very nice deer for the freezer!
It makes it all the more satisfying when it's your load.
