Need Spotting scope recommendations
      #310268 - 11/01/18 09:33 PM

I am in the market for a spotting scope and would like your recommendations as to what I should purchase.
I would like to get a BARSKA 20-60x60 or more with a lens of 80mm or more. I have been looking at a Celestron 52250 with angled eye piece.

Is there loss of sharpness with an angled eye piece compared to a straight? I have only been able to try one with an angle which belongs to my colleague.

Any advice appreciated.

Regards,
Daniel

This one, and the Pentax are likely to have the best optics of any on that page.

The under $200.00 spotting scopes are not very good, imho.

In a spotting scope, it's all about optics and build quality. I sincerely doubt you will find that in a Barska scope. All of the Barska rifle scopes I have seen (20+) have been garbage. I have no reason to believe their spotting scopes are magically better.

In the Cheaper line of scopes, the Bushnels are QUITE likely the best.

I have a Vortex 20-60x80 Diamondback with the angled eyepiece here that gets a lot of use.

It's very nice.
