Removing case labels

Complements of the season to all Nitro Express forums members and greetings from a warm Africa!
I am trying to remove leather labels from 2 old cases. In the past I use to steam paper labels off but am worried that the steam might damage the leather and the lettering on the label. Any advice will be appreciated.

Are you able to remove the felt backing. If so, try and remove the label with the backing intact and steam it from the felt side.
