Like the M&P better than the H&K.

G'Day Fella's,

Thanks for sharing Ripp.

They are both nice pistols but I'm presently looking at getting one of the following;

http://www.frontierarms.com.au/products/handguns/walther-ppq-q5-match.html
A couple of mates/customers want one each of these, and if I buy 5 of them, I get them for $500.00 (AUD), off the single buy price from the importer......... so I thought....

Like my Bul-M5, I plan to put a red dot sight on it (probably the same model Trijicon RMR), and this is set up just for this, from the factory.

Merry Christmas you lot

Hey Homer..

THAT's a good price...

The PPQ is a nice handgun..I had one last summer for a few months..the one thing I liked a bit more about the H&K and S&W is that the bore axis seems to be a bit lower which makes it easier for quicker follow up shots, allegedly.. I may be wrong but that is how it felt to me.. but everyone is different..

I really like the new S&W as well as the H&K...no malfunctions on any of them to this point and very accurate..actually shoot a bit better with them than I do with my Glock 19 which I have shot a ton..
picked up a Gen 5 model 17..installed Trijicon custom sights on it..nice as well..

We are getting a new state of the art indoor shooting facility here which is set to open shortly..plan to use that A LOT..

G'Day Fella's,

Ripp, we are so lucky to have so many great options these days.
I had access (in storage for a mate, with an order to "Keep The Cob Webs Out Of It" offer), to a S&W M&P Core in 9mm. Bloody nice pistol and probably one of the best of it's type, from S&W!

Thats a great looking indoor shooting range.
No Sunburn, Wet Arse/Ass or Frost Bite either!

I like to have a couple of core handguns (keepers) and then have a few play ones.
These occasionally become keepers as well.

One of these keepers, and another great little pistol, is the following;
http://steyrarms.com/firearms/pistols.html
(these are current and USD prices).

I used to have an Steyr M9-A1, but it got chopped up in the 2003 gun buy back, (barrel less than 120mm and more than 10 shots).
These pistols sit exceedingly low in your hand and handle and shoot really well!
I see they have then again, these days with a 122mm barrel, and crimped 10 shot mags ........... I probably need one of these as well.......... maybe a Christmas Present?

Doh!

Have never shot the Steyr...but looks as you stated..low axis...

Another I had a chance to try was the CZ..shot really well also and very moderate price...

Have a good one

G'Day Fella's,

Ripp, CZ have never made a bad firearm!
This P-10 C, looks to have a similar grip shape and proportions, to a Glock (not to mention the rest of it's internals).

Nitro-X, please see my email to you, regarding the above Walther.

Agree--yes the CZ I tried actually had a o.k trigger for a factory one..

NOT to the quality of the ZEV I put in my 10mm model 20SF however...

G'Day Fella's,

Ripp, if you get a chance, have a play with a CZ "Tactical Sports" (a CZ75 based model).
These have The Best factory trigger, I have ever tried.
Nearly as good as my 2 pound, 1911 trigger jobs.

For an out of the box good and easily tuned pistol, the CZ's are very popular here for IPSC.

G'Day Fella's,

Daryl, CZ's (various models), are probably the most popular pistols these days, at my pistol club (for IPSC).
And for good reasons, the products CZ are making today (Rifle, Pistol and Seedgun's), are probably the best, CZ have ever made.

Best Wishes to you all for 2018!

G'Day Fella's,

Yes NitroX, the order has been placed and paid for, I have the serial numbers, I'm just awaiting delivery.
I'll let you know what I think, once I have had a chance to "have a play".

Further to this, I see Walther have now released the "Champion" version of the PPQ Q5 Match.
From what I understand, the only difference (apart from the extra $150.00), is a Tungsten guide rod.
Now being the experienced and suspicious individual I have become, I wonder if the reason for the Tungsten guide rod, is to counter act the weight reduction, from the heavily "Swiss Cheesed/Jenny Graig'ed" slide?
Time will tell if there is an increase in muzzle rise, in recoil as a result of this Swiss Cheese effect, compared to the other 9mm auto's I have at my disposal.

Stay tuned................

I actually had a PPQ. The one thing I noticed is the bore axis is higher than that of the Smith or the H&K VP9..which can possibly hinder for faster follow up shots..actually one of the things I like a lot about the Glocks..and one of the things I never liked about the Sigs (Model 226)..they had/have a high bore axis that I never got used to or liked.. everyone shoots/likes different features..just my .02..

G'Day Fella's,

After getting the 5 x PPQ Q5 Match, in 9mm Para (and selling 4 of them), I was in the process of compiling a large order with Gary at Safari Firearms in Sydney (The Best Gun Shop in Australia!!!).
So whilst I was at it, I weakened and ordered myself a new Steyr-Mannlicher L9-A1 (with a 12mm/1/2" ish protruding from the slide, 127mm/5" barrel), pistol in 9mm Para (9x19mm/9mm Luger.....).
This model has the conventional square, 3 white dot sights (not the Trapezoidal/Triangular one's).
Any way, whilst I have only dismantled, cleaned and prepped it, I'm already happy with it, and I may now sell the new/unfired PPQ......... decisions, decisions, decisions........

You are I are similar that way--sold my PPQ the first week I got it..not that it performed badly, but did not like it how felt compared to the others.. still shooting the H&K VP9 along with a couple of new Glock's I am trying...

Curious what you ended up doing??

G'Day Fella's,

Ripp, further to your question, I posted a couple of adverts ($1850.00) for the Walther Q5 match, at my gun club a month ago.
Still had no inquiries...............
So given this and the fact that I can bolt a Trijicon sight directly to it, I might keep it as well???

Also, I was away bush last weekend (Fallow Deer Rut), and had the chance to have a good read of a S&W 2017 "Cattledog" (Catalogue).
Ripp, the more I read about the M&P 2.0, the more I like them, and the more interested I become.
I have a dealers account with the long standing Australian S&W agent/distributor, so.............

Also, a good mate of mine has always wanted a Browning Hi-Power (BH-P) "P35" (as in 1935).
So after he sold their spare house a month back, he placed an order with me, for a new, two tone Practical model BH-P, in 9mm Para.
FMD, they really are a classic and basically, the parent of most other modern pistols.
We were discussing pistols whilst up the bush last weekend, and all present (x4) agreed, that maybe the only better looking pistol than the BH-P, was the 1911 (or Vice-Versa).
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Donuts,...................... as well?

D'oh!

I really like Smiths.. been using a modified Shield for daily concealed carry for several years now..has never not fired when I pull the trigger..ran 300 rounds through it last week again..no issues what so ever.. I know I have thousands of rounds through that gun...
