Your opinion !

I don't know a model of MS in this caliber , may be a custom MCA model of the late sixteen ?

don't know if its real

he dont makes pics showing the receiver, maybe for a reason. the rifle itself looks excellent and I can imagine that Steyr was building this on special order.

It never ceases to amaze me why the 9.3x64 isn't so popular? It is as good as the 375H&H but in a smaller package & predating Ruger's 375 idea by some 80 years!
If this is a genuine MS then it certainly will be a rare bird, but they were made!
Will need to look at Table 1

Hope it works out for you grandveneur

in the end ... if it shoots straigth and you buy the gun "and not the story" I see up to 1500 euro as a reasonable price for this but this is anyones personal valuation.
and there is "not the story" because the seller don't try to sell it as a super rare original.
tree days to go and only 300 euro till now.

Unless there is something major wrong with it, if it stays similar to that price, and doesn't get late interest or the owner run it up, will be an incredible buy. Good luck.

in my experience the last 5 minutes are the most important after weeks before. the time before the last five is only for give so many people as possible the chance to see your auction.
the fight will be decide on the home stretch.

would be a wonder for me if such a gun will sell under 1000 euro in the end.

there are a few point to consider if you want to sell

your auction have to end on a sunday between 6 and 8 pm! and it does "26.11.2017 19:45:00 MEZ"
only because most people have time then to watch the end of your auction.

you need good pics!

never sell in holiday times - sommer- and in the time after summer! people are not there to buy or penniless because of the holidays before.

the very best time to sell is before Christmas like NOW - one month to go!
people have money again and are willing to pay more than usual because it would be a christmas present "for himself"!

The 9.3x64 was never offered from factory in a Mannlicher Schoenauer under normal production. The latter made guns with the plastic removable magazine such as Model M and L etc. were. Several of the cartridges listed above were only offered in those later guns such as 375 H&H and 376 Steyr. If the gun in question is really a 9.3x64 than it was either a special order made by Steyr or a custom conversion. The fact that Mannlicher Schoenauer's had an action body and a rotary follower made specifically to suit the cartridge being used indicates that it is probably a conversion as Steyr would most likely not have made a new special action for a one off.

Kuduae will probably be able to shed more light on the matter.

I saw a photo of the bolt-head. That is a model GK and the new caliber 9,3x64 is engraved over the original caliber designation. It's impossible to read the old caliber.

That is for sure a conversion.

They possibly used a 30-06 action and opened it up to suit the slightly bigger case diameter of the 9.3x64 and altered the follower to suit, although you may be able to use a follower from an 8x68S model as the shoulder position is similar. If done correctly and everything works as it should and providing the cases don't rattle in the magazine, then it would be a good purchase IMO.

While a different rifle, the Mauser M03 bolt head and magazine for the 8x68S also lists the 9.3x64 as compatible.

The rifle ended up selling for 793 Euro, so someone got a nice gun for a good price.

I bought an original Mannlicher-Schoenauer Mod.GK Rifle caliber 9,3x64 and that is an original one. No doubt.

As before, nobody knows when this rifles were built. A request to the Steyr Werke did not help either.

I'll try to take pictures.

Grandveneur, you certainly have a rare bird there!
I bet you can't wait to get it into the field & try her out.
Will you be handloading or just using factory ammunition?

Dotchicco did a great article on the 9.3x64mm, give him a bell if you decide to reload.

It is an original model from Steyr, no doubt about it. It is a rarity , although in the meantime we are at least two who have one. We have also had contact with each other. The number 64 is even engraved on the magazine follower and there are no cartridge feeding problems either.

The question remains when and how many were produced.

As far as the cartridge 9,3x64 Brenneke is concerned , I have used this cartridge for almost 20 years and shot many game with it. Normally I reload my cartridges , but in this case because of the accurate shooting in my rifle from back then I only used the factory load with 19g TUG bullets from RWS. In Europe we have to use lead-free bullets more and more often , so that I have nowadays to use or load something in this direction for my MS rifle caliber 9,3x64. In Africa for plain game I will not have this problem.
