Does anyone own one of these ? I believe GG375 has one ,its hard to find any info on them ,worst ''part'' being the magazine which is the plastic rotator ,which is doomed to failure eventually ,why they made it plastic is beyond me [$] ,and them the task of finding the part ,when a metal part like the older models would last indefinitely hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm had a Steyr professional years ago the stock snapped like a match stick ,plastic trigger guard ,not inspiring ,even my wife says ''why would they have plastic on a gun ''? don't know what happened to Steyr going to plastic ugh .

Yes mate, I used to own a M72 in .270 Win but sold it 4 or 5 years ago. It was a good enough rifle which served me faithfully for 30 years or so. As you mentioned it's primary downfall was the plastic rotor in the mag. I had to replace it once as the original cracked/broke.

What else would you like to know about the M72 mate? Happy to answer any questions you might have.

thanks for the reply , I have a 270 ,with a broken follower ,it was hard to load when I first got it and rounds stuck in the magazine ,then I could hear bits rattling inside it ,took the floor plate off and found follower broken ,where did you get a new follower for yours ? after doing a search Win Australia website came up .Stating [part] ,''Not Available'' ,then Gunworld website in Brisbane ,I ordered it online from them, but not sure if it will be a happening thing or not .I emailed Steyr but got no reply from them ,being a CRF ,if the mag doesn't work then its hard for the bolt to pick up a round ,you cant put one straight in the chamber, the bolt/ extractor will not close over a round, and the last thing I want to do is break an extractor ,the over all quality of rifle is very good only, let down by a plastic follower .Which then if you cant get parts, you are up shits creek in a barbed wire canoe .the other thing with the bolt pulled rear ward ,don't inadvertently touch the bolt shroud safety on the right side or the striker will pop out of the bolt .the only other thought was the follower was incorrect for this rifle as when you put rounds in it ,its too tight .

Hello 500B

I got mine from Winchester Australia in about 2008 or so.

I've still got my old one sp if you tell me the number on your broken one I'll be able to let you know if it is the proper rotar for .270.

Is yours a full wood or half stock?

Yep, that's the same number as stamped on my old rotor so at least we know you have the correct one.

If you don't have any luck with a new one with Gunworld let me know.......I think I can get you out of trouble.

I got the New follower from Gun World in Brisbane [Hillcrest ] I thought they would have been one of the Unobtainium substances ,which was a relief ! an expensive piece of plastic, but at least they are available, Gun World are good to deal with, and have good specials every now and again too.Now I can shoot the thing ,nice gun really .
