Original MAUSER in 7x64 Brenneke
      #307019 - 30/10/17 06:07 PM

Interesting 1939 made 7x64 Brenneke Original Mauser rifle sold by H. Zehner, Frankfurt am Main.
Not many commercial Mauser benefited from this chambering.
That fine Mauser lost its scope after the war and sports now a Carl Zeiss "Diavari" D 1,5-6x36 in as new condition we have fitted during the rifle restoration in our shop.

Regards to all.

A lovely restoration yet again. And in such a useful classic European calibre/chambering. Well done.

Always a pleasure to see your perfect work and a source of inspiration.

That scope is a logic and aesthetically perfect choice. Useful and no need for alteration of the original bolt handle.

One Question remains , is the magazine box the original one.?
The straddle type floorplate is at least uncommon for that action.

All parts are indeed original and numbered to the rifle SN.
Such a magazine floorplate is not uncommon at the end of production as this rifle benefits from many options.
Seems it has been a special order from H. Zehner.

The straddle floorplate is actually very common on standard actions in my experience.

However the shadow line following the cheeckpiece contour, is very unusual to me.

Beautiful rifle in a VERY rare caliber, thanks for sharing Monsieur!

Actually yes, but in days gone by you could find it on magnum actions and the few .303 Rigbys (apart from non Oberndorf made Mausers).

I don't stop to admire this rifle...!

Another question to Mr. DORLEAC: The 7x64 B magazine in the original Mauser Sporting rifles shares the dimensions with the .30-06 magazine in these rifles?

Thank you!

PH

According to a Mauser factory table on page 127 of Jon Speed's first book the .30-06 and the 7x64 used the same inside magazine dimensions: Length 88 mm, width back 22.4 mm, front 17.5 mm.

Very nice and in a very useful allround calibre - all the benefits of a 30-06 without the recoil.

Sir your work is Most Excellent! The shadow line cheek piece is a nice touch along with the small schnabel on the ebony tip. I love the 98 Mauser and I love the 7x64 cartridge so what more could one ask for? What does she weigh as pictured? Thanks

Absolutely lovely.

Mauser action offerings from the 1939 Stoeger catalog - N0. 9 is the 7X64:
