Carpetsahib,
Sorry mate I can't give you a date but it would have to be late '80's early '90's from memory. Unfortunately PH no longer exists as far as firearms manufacturing - they were rather prominent here in Australia from the '60's onwards.
Again gong from memory it wasn't all that long after this came out that the company folded - so I guess that may help?
Sorry I can't help further

Its funny I still remember the M81 African rifle as being in .375, .404 and .458? But my memoery must be mistaken as the catalogue clearly shows the 1100M African Magnum as being listed in those three chamberings and nothing else.

The better Parker Hale rifles were good value. Nothing fancy, but good value usuable Mauser 98 actioned rifles. My 1200 Delux .30-06, now custom restocked into a classic form from the Monte Carlo stock is a real user. One of the 1100M chamberings would be cool if one popped up on the second hand market at the right price. As a member on another thread was lucky to chance upon.

I had one a PH 1200 in .30/06, just like the one in the ad there. I reckon that ad is from the mid-'80's.
The PH Safari's still have some lingering vestige of cachet over here amongst old timers.

Absolutely wonderful with no white line vented recoil pads or white line grip caps.

93x64mm:

It is a Bausch & Lomb BALVAR 1.5-6x20 that, because of its duplex reticle and my aging peepers, has been taken off and been replaced by a Schmidt & Bender 1-4x24 scope with an A1 reticle.

They were good rifles. Just wish I had appreciated them then as much as I do now. I didn't know they made them in 404 or I would have bought one.

I have the Safari Deluxe from 1964 in 375 H&H. Holds 4 plus 1 with large triggerguard. True Magnum Length without metal milled out of front. Top of action is factory hand engraved in floral pattern. Recoil lug on barrel with two crossbolts on stock. Express sight with one standing and two folding leafs. Upgraded French Walnut Stock on Deluxe Model. Haven't seen another other than in the 60's Parker Hale Catalog.

Moosemind

What do you mean by true Magnum Length??
My 375 PH ( not engraved) is a standard Mark X action as I believe they all were. PH did use the Brno ZG47 action at one point, but it too is a standard length. Can you please post some pics ??

Interesting the set trigger looks just like a Canjar without the familiar branded CH in the circle on the shoe.

Here, as well. My first match rifle in the mid 70's had a
TX1200 Varmint barrel on it, in .308. I won a lot of 'gold
' with that barrel in a short period of time.

Weren't the commercial actions used made by Santa Barbara rather than Mark X? Also early ones used reworked military 98 actions and the Hussar used Brno ZG47. I don't believe any were built on a true magnum Mauser and don't know what that magnum action would be, but the longer magnums used a longer magazine box and the regular length actions were modified for the longer cartridges.
