Ruger Redhawk to S&W Round Butt conversion?
      #302752 - 06/07/17 07:09 AM

G'Day Fella's,

I have a Ruger Redhawk (in .45 Colt), that I'm not entirely happy with.
The rubber factory grips that the revolver came with just don't suit my hands at all.
Being a fan of the S&W revolver Round Butt (as these size grips feel good in my hands). I'm having some serious thought's on modifying the Redhawk to the round butt.

Have any of you good people, had any experience with something like this conversion?
FYI, here is a link I found on line;

Regards
Homer

Maybe- I rounded the lower rear tang on my M29 put on a set of lovely little round butt grips and with heavy loads - they bloody well hurt - nasty they are.
Back to the standard Pachmyers.

G'Day Fella's,

Thank You Daryl, for your experience with these kinda things.
I only ever use reasonable loads (10.0 grains of ADI AP-70 ("Unique" equivalent), and 250 grain cast slugs, in it. Firm and comfortable to use but not brutal.
I'm a firm believer, that you can shoot something better, if it feels good in the hand.

I know what you mean about brutal M29's Daryl, a mate of mine "MT" used to have a 629, with a 3" lightweight barrel and a round butt (some Jobber, limited series).
I fired two 180grin factory loads thru it (Ouch! OUCH!), and gave it back to him.
OK, I'm a Big Girls Blouse!

LOL!

With 900fps to 1,000fps .44 SPL loads - just like your .45 Colt loads, Homer, it was quite manageable and fun to shoot with the round butt.

20gr. W296 and 300gr. Truncated cones was too much.

Thanks Daryl, LOL!

I may have found a simple solution to this situation.
I remember now, reading about these new Redhawk .45ACP -.45Colt convertibles...... a year or so back.
https://www.eaglegrips.com/ruger-new-red...anel-grips.html

I'll get a set of grip panels to suit, and have a bit of a mill and file me thinks.

Tryin hard to snow hear at present........ GloBULL Warming my arse!

HooRoo for now

G'Day Fella's,

LOL! Ducmarc, yes I've been unfortunate to have hung onto a couple like that myself.
I was hoping they did blow up, so I wouldn't have to fire another shot......... but no, the revolver was still intact! Bugger! and yes I'm a Big Girls Blouse!
