NOT so sure GREAT should be used here ..but I did buy a couple of these back in the day. had one rebarreled to .257 Weatherby caliber..shot my largest mule deer to date with that rifle along with a pile of Pronhorn through the years..very very accurate and a pure joy to pack around in terms of weight..

Never bought one, found them mildly interesting, though. I thought the .260 might be nice.

Had one in .270 Winchester. It was typical Remington 700 accurate, i.e... 3/4 to 1" moa. The steel bolt and titanium receiver were subject to galling and created an unpleasant sticky feel when operating the bolt. The composite stock was much better / stiffer than the typical noodle feel of Tupperware stocks, the stainless barrel was great in the rain and didn't wander shots as it got hot.

I sold the rifle because I couldn't live with the galling/sticky feel of steel on titanium but liked the rifle overall. It was light and well balanced.

I have a Browning A-bolt titanium. I can attest to the galling that occurs with titanium. I can never equal steel for smooth operating. I am sure it adds 50-100% more time to work the action.

Could you not get the bolt Micro Slicked? Not sure if that is the correct name? When my mate had his rifle Ceracoated they treated the action with something to slick it up and I thought it was called some thing like that and they baked it on at the same time. Just a thought

EEZOX is a spray that really slicks up actions. Spray it on, let the bolt sit for 15 minutes and put it back in- less than 1/2 the effort to open and close it.

Using sprays, treatments and other voodoo gyrations to make two incongruent metals function in a rifle is not my idea of a good time. It didn't work properly so I dumped it. I can understand putting lipstick on a pig after 20 beers, but I just can't live with a rifle whereby I must literally find some temporary black magic special sauce to make it work right.

I think it's probably better to find an alternative build vs trying to overcome a manufacturer's technological triumph over common sense that falls short of the mark. Maybe I'm just a boring traditionalist - I prefer the tried and true, but I am absolutely open to technological advancement so long as it actually works properly. To my utter disappointment the Remington 700 titanium just didn't work properly, and I REALLY wanted to like that rifle!!!!!

I have tried every lubricant known and the titanium is still sandpaper on sandpaper. Titanium does not cut it as rifle action material if you desire a fast and smooth action.

Hmm you would think if they really wanted it to work they could have made it like a Glock and inserted Steel guide rails into the Titanium to guide the bolt so it never touched the rest of the Action. It would have added bugger all weight I think? But I am not an engineer so maybe it was tried and put in the too hard basket.

Fortunately I have not experienced this as you state above..I have 3 rifles with titanium the last 2 of which were made by Fierce and ironically Pierce manufacturing..both function perfectly..not sure if they did anything different as they are both somewhat custom, with the Pierce being a full custom ..

I talk with the guys at Fierce on a regular basis, will ask for their input .
