In my notes I have around 50, but wanted to confirm that number before I was potentially spouting off incorrect facts.

According to Speed, about 100 Rigby's in 303 British were built on the slant magazine short intermediate action. They were numbered in a special series.

That makes sense, each one is designated a certain serial #, 1-100, I have #21, Rigby loves the limited/special releases dont they!

Not all the " short intermediate" actions went to Rigbys.
Im guessing around 50-70ish
The number sequence for this action is a bit odd, mine is in the 100 range....some in their own range, some in the " normal" sequencing.
Early ones had the push button release to the floor plate, but were not hinged.

Heres the really nice thing about mine.....the first 3 numbers of the Rigby serial number are 303!!!!!...what are the odds.

Those of us who are lucky enough to have one, have a very rare Rigby Mauser....enjoy.

Best
Eric

One just sold today at Gavin Gardener's auction.
I wanted to make a serious play at it but he bids outstripped my enthusiasm...

I saw that, I am guessing by the time it got to the USA it would cost around 12000USD all in?

But it is good to know that that rifle carries a strong premium.

I was following the Gardiner auction too. Made absentee bids on the .303, .350 and Mauser K in .250-3000. They were all in superb condition. Gavin said they had been in storage for at least a generation. I missed on all 3 - close on the Rigbys but way short on the Mauser (2500 bid v 4200 hammer). Was surprised to lose all 3. As I've said before, best to go after the really superb pieces like these and pass on other stuff. But I'm not so good at following my own preaching:)
