I thought some might like to see a photo of the frame of an actual double rifle with the stock removed. Notice the thickness of the side walls, and though it doesn't show in the photo, this rifle has no top connection/third bite/crossbolt. It is a Tolley, .577/.500-3 1/8" NE.

Those proportions are typical for nitro rifle frames.

That is a good look inside.
The boxlock is a good lesson in economy of space. Pretty much whatever metal is removed gets replaced with moving components.

I like the look of that lockplate in the background too. What is it for?

The locks in the background are from a left-handed William Powell 12 ga shotgun.
