Greeting guys,
New member and first post here. Was wondering what any of you knew about the 550 Magnum. I stumbled on one of the rifles on Gun Broker. It was based on the CZ550 receiver. Since then I have been trying to research it, since it looked like something I would be capable of building. Unfortunately, I find a lot of old posts but nothing very recent. Dis this rifle fade away or is it still out there being made? I'm not even sure if there is a maker. The original website lists sources for barrels, dies, brass and such. Some of these sites are no longer up. Not a lot of information out there. Anyone have any experience with it?

The .550mag in a CZ 550 mag. how appropriate. The largest caliber you can put in a strait walled 2.9" Weatherby case is a .550. Just like a .458 (or .470) in a .375 magnum based case. No visible shoulder and head-spaces on belt. The .550 Express is the little sister with a 2.5" or 2.65" case. Will fit in standard Mauser 98. http://www.550magnum.com/

Hi Everyone;
I am a new member here but ran across this post and wanted to add my 2 cents worth. I have a 550 mag that I built and it is really something to shoot. I used Montana Rifle Co. Mag action with a Pac-nor barrel. If anyone is interested in any more info please PM or email me. I am willing to discuss all I have done with this caliber.

Seems to me, I made up a .550 Mag. for a friend, a wildcat
ctg. collector in Spain - & 2 different ctgs. at that, one,
iirc, was necked & may have been on a .404 Jeffery or .577
case.
My memory of that bunch of wildcat cases is not good. I had
never heard of several of them before, but with pictures,
was able to make them.

tried the address - got this.
Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.
We can’t connect to the server at www.550magnum.com. If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:
Try again later. Check your network connection. If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

.550 is a .460 weatherby straightened out. Sorta like a .458 win mag but on steroids.
