Mauser Titanium firing pin
      #295026 - 10/02/17 11:32 AM

Dear all,

Once in a while I see a custom Mauser where one of the features a firing pin out of Titanium is, for faster lock time and higher precision. Does anyone know who offers these and/or what kind of Titanium they are made of?

Thanks in advance

SRY - have heard of them - thought they were usually accompanied by replacing the stock spring with a stronger firing pin spring, as in a 26# to 28# Wolf Spring.

The Titanium firing pin is lighter, therefore does not have the same Kinetic force on the primer. A higher pressure spring, that is, higher than the standard 22# spring is usually desired - decreases lock time & jar of the pin hitting the primer as well.

I do not know what the exact metalurgy is or where they might be available.

Since you hail from the States, try Brownell's.

Brownells sell them and they are made by David Tubb. Very nicely made and reasonably priced.

Thanks for the infos. I see the one from David Tubb, they seem to be aluminum and steel and missing the cam that closes the bolt when it is not down all the way. I like that feature of the Mauser.

I wonder if anybody could recommend what kind of grade/alloy Titanium should be good. I got a local machine shop and they do have experience in machining Titanium. Might just have them to make some.

They are definitely titanium, at least the ones that I have bought.
