Mauser commercial advert
      #295001 - 09/02/17 11:16 PM

Waidmannsheil. This is - I think, the pre-WW2 Mauser commercial advert you are looking for; it was painted by Ludwig Hohlwein. Louis

Louis, yes that is the one, thank you. But how do I get hold of that picture as a file such as a jpeg so that I can get it printed out and framed.

Waidmannsheil, how big poster you want to have ? I just saved this foto as 50 cm high jpeg. Is it big enough ?

If anyone has a much higher definition image of this, please send it to me

nitro @ nitroexpress.com

I will put it up as a file on the site for people to download if they wish.

If this one can be used to 50cm that isn't so bad, but a metre is better. Without it becomin grainy.

Good Germanic photo of Mauser, especially with the rhino behind. Has a Northern Africa flavour in the colouring.

There was also a print Mauser used that featured a hunter smoking a pipe with his rifle in his lap and his dog beside him. It was in the Speed book of Oberndorf sporting rifles. If anyone has a high quality copy or scan of that image please post it !

Actually if anyone has ANY high quality scans/copies/jpegs of the various Mauser prints please Post them for us all to have. It will make a great thread !

Great stuff. The dot in the map of South America looks like it's about where Brasilia is today. Or perhaps allowing for a little error or blurring - Asuncion, Paraguay?

I've always wondered how many Mauser sporters are still in South America. I need to go have a look, but probably nearly impossible to get them out even if one were to find some.

I have a copy of the dog and pipe smoker mounted in a frame along with others, not real sure how to get the quality you need. Only can photograph them. Have also the poster at the top of this thread and 2 others. Give me some suggestions and I will see what I can do. Curiously they came from down under several years ago.

Those old advertising posters and adds appeal to me far more than modern adds do.

Prairie_Ghost . I would try taking the prints over to some type of screen printing shop. Usually you can find small shops around town who do custom printing for Wedding invitations, special event banners, or even full size blueprints. These types of shops have the ability to scan something and convert to digital media. Be sure to carry a flash drive or cd with you and they should be able to scan the prints and load onto one or the other. Or at the very least they can quote you a price to print out a few to sell to us fellow Forum members !!

Wyatt, That's a good idea. There actually is a place in town that I am sure can do it. I will check it out. 3 of my 4 are mounted in frames and been so long I am not sure how they are mounted, certainly not professionally done. I have the print that begins this thread, the hunter in the boat, a yellowish one with an elephant and a blue shaded print I do not remember the content. I will get back to all.
