Try the Woodleigh 140 grain Protected Points, they feed perfectly in my 1903. The 160 grain RNSN is the correct length for the Mannlicher.

Would not all the 140's feed, like the Speer and the Hornady?

Seems to me, I measured the Speer 140's at .263"- back in the 80's. Some things I remember - some, well?

Daryl, only tried the Hornady thus far...early days, but no it doesnt feed, and there is no alteration to the feed ramp.
Im thinking the 155gr Lupua Mega might be a nice comprimise as well.

In my experience with a 1903 MS, a COL of less than 7.8 cm will cause feeding problems. So, in the case of the Hornady 160 grain, if you seat to the crimping grooves you're seating too deep for smooth feeding. As far as I can tell, the magazines were designed specifically to operate with 160 grain RN projectiles and not a lot else and only then if seated out as discussed.

If you can achieve a COL of 7.8 cm with a 140 grain projectile you may be fine but otherwise I suspect you'll have problems. I've never actually used spitzer type projectiles in mine so I don't really know but I have my doubts that they'd feed as well as a round nose.

This thread shows issues I had with feed problems.
I made changes and the problems are gone with the feed now slick & smooth with all types of bullets...RN, SST 129/140gn...no problem at all.

In my experience OAL of less than 30.00 will not feed.
160GR Woodleigh, and Hornady feed perfectly at OAL 30.65, this is also close to max magazine length........the " rounder" the nose the better.

I have orderd the Lupua 155gr Mega, has anyonr tried this bullet??

I am loading the 160grain Hornady RN to 77,5mm3/3.051" and it feeds perfectly. This is very slightly down on the recommendations I have researched however it was the length that best fed in my M1900

I also have some Lapua Mega coming so interested to hear of peoples findings.
