This script is on the side of this rifle.

Markings I am trying to get translated are on the side action body.

I had the picture on my desk at work ands was going to show it to a Pakistani translator. One of the woman at work came by and saw the picture and asked me if I know what it was. I didn't but she did.

The language is arabic and she said it says "God's Victory is coming very soon."

The T.G.S. we think stands for Trucial Gulf States. We think this is one of the so called Muscat Martini's.

You never know where you will find help with your old gun.

What a great and interesting gun! Tell us more about it as you find out more. Do you shoot it?

I thought the gun was interesting also.

I moderate a couple of Martini boards and one of the fellows posted this gun and asked for help identifing it.

I have a Carbine like that, straight Military MHCC, and yes I do shoot it.

In fact I don't own guns that can't be shoot. Guns that can't be/aren't being shot are used as trading stock. It's not enough to have a pretty face, if they can't cook they are gone!

DD

What an interesting rifle and a great addition to a collection.

Some history with a vintage rifle is always nice.

DoubleD:
That Martini pictured in your post looks more like the Artillery Carbine rather than the Cavalry Carbine: bit difficult to fix that obscenely-long Yataghan sword-bayonet on a galloping steed!!

It's a CC, no bayonet lug.

Apologies, DD. Looked like a bayonet-lug on the RHS in your photo.

If it had a bayonet lug it probably would make a pretty good wild hog gun!

It looks to be either Persian or Afghani to me. I read Arabic, but cannot tell from the picture what all of the characters are. Perhaps if you could get a better picture of the muzzle end of the receiver, I could be of more help.
