Hi lancaster,
Nice rolling block. Can you tell me what the pivoting piece in the hammer spur does? I haven't seen that before.
Thanks
LesLeeSpeed.

Maybe that's where Gaston Glock got his idea for his trigger safety!

Now with further looked at it, it appears as if pressing down the raised lever at the rear of the hammer's spur, brings up a flat, probably blade-like peg that will extend the firing pin's nose, thus contact the firing pin - maybe. Not having the rifle in one's hand makes this guesswork.

With the lever raised as it is in the pictures, the peg sits below the hammer's nose thus cannot contact the firing pin which sits in a cut-tout in the rear of the rolling block.

If the lever was pressed down as it would be while bringing the hammer back to full cock, you would not see the black blade beneath the hammer's nose - third last picture is the best.

In the last picture, the hammer is seen fully down in the fired position. The nose of the hammer is quite short as seen in the 4th and 6th pictures from the top. The last picture shows the hammer's nose cannot contact the recessed firing pin, without help.

The piece you are referring to is a hammer safety. I have a fullstocked version of this same 20 gauge rifle. Husqvarna No. 4. If you look closely, there is an extension behind the hammer that keeps it from being cocked. Press down on safety, and it moves forward while cocking hammer. I guess it is to keep a snag from pulling hammer back far enough that its release would ignite primer. Started showing up around 1902 on rolling blocks in Sweden.

You could sift through these. A While back, Anthony wasn't sending guns outside Canada - you could always phone or write and ask about now.

Thanks Daryl,
Simpson Ltd, which is a 1 hour drive from me, has a few but no "bore rifles".
They are 8x58r or 12.7x44r.

I purchased my No. 4 Husky from Simpson around 2006, IIRC. Never know what will be in their next shipment from Sweden.

The 12.7 or .50 cal is virtually a 32 bore. Yeah - kinda small.
I think I sold my Husky M20, 16 smooth SXS 13 bore rifled (Cape gun)for $275.00 CDN. IIRC.

I refinished the stock's faded and almost missing varnish!
had some nice walnut afterall.

Of course, I slugged the rifled left bore, which had straight rifling. It measured .705", yet perfectly fitted 16 bore brass shells. The partially marked ball is a .682" - the bore was .670" and the groove was .705".

\

I will note that the denim patched 16 bore balls, were more accurate than the 14 bore balls shot naked. in the 13 bore barrel, which is understandable.

The .662" balls were patched with 12 ounce denim which measures .030" with Dial calipers, measuring .663" ball + /030 + .030" (both sides) = .722" = which gives some compression in the grooves. So - clean shooting and best accuracy.

Incidentally, this was shot offhand at almost 30 yards.

Almost forgot- 3 drams of 2F GOEX- (82gr.) with patched (Neets -Foot Oil lubed patch over powder. Seems to me I had to add a 1/2" thick 14 bore wad in between ball and crimp, due to the larger than predicted capacity of the 2 1/2" brass case.

The 2 1/2" brass 16 bore case will actually hold a LOT more powder,. but it regulated to the sights with 3 drams and the 1 ounce ball. (.662")

Did those crimps straighten out when fired. Looks like it would shorten brass life considerable.

Brass worked fine - annealed, of course.
