I sold mine in .17 Rem..a small cartridge for a small rifle.
I didnt like the small size of the rifle.

Rino:
No experience with the Vixen, but my favourite small-bore by far is a dainty Sako L-46 .222 circa 1954. It has the full-length Mannlicher-style stock, and wears a Pecar in factory-fitted claw mounts.

That little rifle spends most of its time hidden away in the gunsafe, since our local quarry are primarily buffalo and boar, but it has accompanied me on a couple of serious macropod culls with 52gr Sierras and performed flawlessly.

If the Vixen is even half as nice as the earlier L-46 I think you might enjoy owning one!

My most favoured rifle is a mid 50's L46 fitted with a Kahles scope.

I've never handled a more handy, lithe, comfortable rifle than that one.

All rifles should handle like the old L46s. Though they're a little low in the comb for scopes.

We've got a later L461 in .17 Rem but I don't like it as much as the old rifle.

My A1 is Super accurate still - .222
Have an old Model 4200 in 8-32X40 on it.

I would probably sell it is the right money came along. LOL

I agree with the comments on the Sako L46. I have 3 (2 heavy bbl varmint rifles & a 1/2 stock sporter) all in .222 R. I'm always on the lookout for a nice Mannlicher stocked L46 but haven't found the right one yet.

I had a L461 .222 R heavy bbl varmint at one time. A very nice rifle but IMHO a step back from the L46. I much prefer the bolt sleeve safety & the Winchester M70 style trigger mechanism of the L46 along with the stock style of the earlier L46 rifles. Both the L46 & the 461 are normally very accurate rifles.

I am paying for a L461 Vixen as I write. Freaking expensive but I know I will get my money back if I wanna sell it.
It is chambered in 222.
Can't wait to pick it up and try it.
Waiting for a couple of pics. Will post when I get them.

I have a Browning Hi-Power Medallion grade with the vixen action in .222Rem Mag.I believe this action to be the best for that family of cartridges because it is perfectly scaled down and holds 6 cartridges in the mag. The trigger is excellent and overall quality and finish is excellent.Mine has round bridges, no dovetails. I also have a Forester in .22-250 and a Finnbear in .375 H&H. Great guns.
I highly recommend it.

Here it is.
I put on a scope just for the looks.

Ordered a stock blank today. My Vixen is about to have a new "classic" stock.

Great stuff Rino.

I would dream to own a Sako L46 in .222.

I SHOULD have bought a Sako L461 Vixen in .222 when I bought my first .222 but they were too expensive and got an admittedly super accurate but steel pipe with a 2 by 4 stock Remington 788 instead. Still got it.

I think your rifle with a new classic stock will be fantastic and a great choice.

BTW today I have three ".222's".
- the original Remington 788 in .222;
- a barrel for my Mauser M03 in .222; and
- a Martini Cadet single shot in .222 Rimmed.
Not sure if the coppers would allow me a fourth? Not likely ...
