WTB - Mannlicher Steyr Detachable mount parts

Having been enthralled with the Mannlicher Steyr detachable mount seen in this clip

I decided I'd like to make one for my mates Mannlicher.

I am interested in buying a set of these mounts or any parts for them that you may have.

Please let me know what you've got.

Twobob, the rings for those type of scope mounts are specific to each type of scope, therefore you would have to have a large collection of rings to be able to match up something that fits your chosen scope. Many of the rings from that era also 26mm which was a popular size then. Rings and bases can be custom made but are a lot of work and therefore expensive. They are however very strong and return to zero perfectly if made correctly. They are also very interesting and unique and fit well with the other unusual features of the Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles.

Waidmannsheil,

I realise that the rings would differ to suit scope body diameters of 1" and 26mm.......some of the front rings also attached to the object of the scope therefore variances would be huge.

I'm prepared to give it a go and build what I can't buy.

Just thought I'd see what incomplete mount/ring sets were out there...........in order to minimise the amount of stuff I have to build.

Twobob, hopefully you can find some parts but I think you will be struggling. Most people hang on to their spare bits if they have even if they do not intend to ever use them. This is the main reason that we ended up making several sets of these rings for customers as there was nothing available. I have seen quite a few rifles for sale with bases but no scope or rings attached, but of course no one wants to remove them and sell them separately as it will leave a cutout in the stock and holes in the action. I wish you luck but I am not hopeful. There is a gunmaker in Austria by the name of Michael Miedler who has the Mannlicher Schoenauer naming rights and is currently producing guns and parts, he also makes the type of rings and bases that you seek. Hope that helps.
