Spotting Scopes
      #289070 - 15/10/16 03:31 AM

How many of our esteemed forum members own/use a spotting scope?

What is your primary use, ie, at the range, or, in the field?

What power magnification are you using?

Do you prefer a straight eye piece or a 45 degree eye piece?

Which manufacturer(s) products are you using, and or which ones do you feel are the best, ie., clearest image?

What price point do you feel will yield a reasonable quality spotting scope?

Any and all opinions are encouraged and most certainly welcome!!!

I used Swarovski and Leupold..but use the Leupold more because of weight and size..have taken that all over the world..little HD 12-40...very useful for taking to the range or packing in the mtns...

The swarovski I bought when I drew a Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep Tag..used it a lot in lower elevations like where those sheep were..has an angled eye piece, which I found to be easier to look through for extended periods of time..just need to get used to finding game and using it..

Of the two there is no comparison as to clarity...the Swaro is the leader hands down..mine is 20-60 power with a larger obj...it should be better as it was about 4 times more expensive than the Leupold...

I always take a scope to the range and 99% of the time when I am in the field..amazing what you can spot versus just using binos at greater distances...which is one mistake I feel many hunters of elk and mule deer make..they spend too much time traipsing around the hills instead of getting to a high spot and spotting from a distance..see game all the time moving out ahead of hunters ..hunters who have no idea what they just blew out..
