Hello all.
I have information on a Garden and Sons rifle for sale. $3,000
It is marked Garden and Sons 200 Piccalilli London.

Rather nice - rough, but nice. Appears to be rifled for the 4 band, belted, mechanically fitted conical.
The length of the rear sight staff would indicate a rather bullet, not belted ball. I expect the twist would be 3feet or faster.
I would have been interested to parley on it about 6 months ago - mad money all gone now.

The rifling seems slow for bullets.
I am not certain what is was made for,but the twist seems to be for balls not bullets.

Interesting - with that sight. Of course back in the mid 1800's, the gun makers in England didn't have a great "handle" on rates of twist.

If made for a patched ball - fine. The stock geometry is typical and works well with hard kicking rifles. I really like it.

The drip rail and bolster are quite proud of the lock plate.
