Hey guys,
I was browsing the list of double rifle parts suppliers and I cannot find anyone who wI'll make just an action (boxlock or sidelock) like the guy who was selling EXACTLY what I'm looking for, believe he was crown press. It looks as if he has passed away and am desperately trying to find someone to make an action, simply because I am capable of making the other components and the only thing I seem to be able to come up with is purchasing a newly made Spanish sxs to inevitably not use the stock or barrels. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.s.I am familiar withe converting other brands of shotguns, however I am looking for something plain so that I may do my own engraving.

Tom Ondrus was getting his stuff out of the Italian trade, where exactly I am not sure. Things have really changed since Tom had his catalog out. The Italian trade has been hit very hard by the economic changes since 2009. Many small makers folded and parts are much harder to come by than in the past. I know of some gunmakers in the UK who can supply an action but cost is VERY high, the last quote I received was for a barreled action, H&H design and it was in excess of 15K GBP. Such is the state of the modern custom gun trade. Demand is not high enough to keep suppliers in business and offer parts, actions etc at affordable prices. You might consider polishing the engraving off an existing gun....I do that regularly on restorations.

Richard Barnes in the UK will supply a barreled action. He supplies most of the big London names. This is an informal plug for him, as he is a friend. Richard can make any kind of action you want, and he relishes challenges.

Piotti in Italy will also supply actions.

I am sure there are others, too.

Ive been down this road, you will find out it is cheaper to buy a complete shotgun than buy actions from overseas. Richard Barnes, Piotti, Ian Clarke will be in excess of $7500+

Not to turn this in a different direction so much as to get some options.

What actions out "there" are suitable for DR or Bore rifle builds? Newer, older, American, Spanish, Russian, English, Italian?

One more Italian gunmaker - Effebi- just started offering several different sidelock designs, both hammer, and hammerless.
