Joël Dorleac-Guisset, well known for his superb bolt action rifles is here working on a H&H "Royal" Express double rifle. Creating new chopper lump 8x57JRS barrels on a small H&H .240 Flanged "Royal" double rifle.

Joel, superb work IN A GREAT CALIBER. Fantastic detail around the front sight with a nice stippled finish. Always a fan of your scroll engraving around the claw mounts.

That gents is what a 'gunsmith' does - he turns your ideas into reality!
And boy is it a beauty, I just love that restrained type of engraving style without being over the top; now continued on with the 2nd set of barrels.
As far as calibres go, that puts it midway if the owner want another set of say a 9.3x74mm barrel set as well - right spanner for every job I reckon fellas!
Lovely piece of kit & as always brilliantly done
Wish I won lotto!

Yup, a true hard bastard would be more than satisfied with the 'irons' on such a rifle but, OMG, what a wonderful bit of gunsmithing. Wow.......

NICE - - however I fail to see the need nor desire for a "moon sight" on an 8mm. REALLY???? - Unless perhaps one's sight was failing and you didn't want a scope - then, why the scope mounts?

Sorry - I fail to see any reasons for this sight choice.
Up until legal light around here, normal express sights work just fine.

This H&H would be a VERY special moose rifle - with no scope!

This, of course, without acknowledging the 'order's instructions'.

Great work. Looks fabulous.

I quite like the front sights and he got the spearpoints spot on. Mine have the older style flip up moon sights.

With my eyes, I sometimes use them too!

That big white bead and a wide v notch are just the ticket for failing eye sight. Back ups encase you break a scope.

I have handled a similar rifle, 240 Royal, and they handle beautifully and feel lighter than they are. Extra barrels like this in a larger caliber makes perfect sense as long as the maker gets the balance correct.

That is a lovely bolstered side lock with the hand detachable sideplates.

Congratulations to the owner and Dorleac.

The moon sight works well in fog or heavy cloud, something we get a lot where I hunt. I certainly would take that gun out to hunt as well.

Exquisite, just lovely. The 8mm is a fine fine choice in readily available chambering for mid-stout game. Optics are fine addition.

Thankfully Joel still posts here with the amount of trolls.

It seems that H&H has quite a gap in their caliber list; they have .300 H&H and then next bigger one is .375 H&H. IMO 8 mm caliber (prefer 8x57 IRS) is very good choice for hunting european bigger animals with double rifle.

The 8x57 IRS is one of the best cartridges ever made, especially for deer sized game. With a 220 grain bullet it still hits hard but has moderate recoil. Superb choice for a double. IMO.

Absolutely brilliant work. Looks at least as good as H&H work. I am truly impressed.

Thank you very much for showing this.

Superb work as usual. It will fit to the original design. However, the caliber is beyond all expectations.
H&H deserves appropriate British caliber - for the European conditions 300 H&H Flanged or 400/350 NE would be perfect.
