""""Pedersoli Kodiak MK IV DG Double Rifle .450 Nitro Express 3 1/4""""

When did they come out with this? I can't find it on the Pedersoli web site..... " The Kodiak 450 Nitro Express uses an action with the sliding third bite"....interesting, wonder how (or if) they regulate?

I could be wrong but I am not aware of Pedersoli chambering this rifle for 450NE. These rifle were re-chambered to 450NE from 45-70 buy private owners quite a bit. I have the 143rd one off the line from Pedersoli. These rifles were commissioned by Trail Guns Armory of Texas and were only originally chambered for 45-70Gov, and are replicas of the 1878 Colt double rifle.

Mine was re-chambered for 458 RCBS, a wildcat invented by Huntington originator of RCBS.
These rifle were $900 originally but wnet up to about $3500 the last listing I saw. I don't think you will find this rifle listed chambered for 450NE from Pedersoli, but if you you do please let me know!

Link doesn't work.

Pedersol .450 NE's are rechambered factory .45/70's. Not a factory chambering.

The same rifles seem to be purchased and re-sold again and again.

Might be for a reason.

Let the buyer beware.

I've e-mailed Wholesale Hunter and Pedersoli to see what they say. The Pedersoli web page lists the S.890 as only being offered in .45-70. I cannot even find the 450 being offered in any of their rifles. It will be interesting to learn what both parties have to say.

Both links worked for me - someone has a chambering reamer, and is re-chambering them, it appears, then jacking up the price by 2 or $3,000.00.

If they are re-chambered, how do they modify the action?

Site works for me, and I see it offered for $ 6995 plus tax. Not on the Davide Pedersoli website itself, where the Kodiak is only offered in 45-70, 8x57R, and 9.3x74R.

The picture they show of the action has no third bite either let along a rising third bite.

Their listing on Gun Broker went expired with no sale.

Is this the same as the Rigby Rising third bite? If so, what a bargain, $6000 compared to a $100,000 !!!

Even if it is invisible in the photos.

Trying their ultra crap website for the twentieth time ... maybe they should spend more than $5 on their ISP server ...

I just received two pictures and a video from Wholesale Hunter. It appear that the gun has a cross bolt rather than a rising third third. This is probably why they refer to it as a sliding bite.

I do not have ready access to a hosting site. I would be more than happy to forward the two pictures and short video (11MB) to someone willing to upload to the forum.

I contacted Davide Pedersoli on Facebook, and they confirmed that they offer the 450 NE.

Good to hear. Wonder why they don't list it on their website?

Far better idea than a rechambered one. I take back my comments.

I wonder how or to what extent they regulate them?

Not sure about regulation, John, but the rifles may be designed for the shooter to regulate /zero them themselves, like the regular Pedersoli double breechloading rifles and double muzzleloaders are. I did invite them to post here with more details, so let's see what they say when they come here. In any case, for a $ 6995 retail SRP for a 450 NE rifle that is proofed for the 450 NE, the price looks fantastic. I'm betting that someone is soon going to take it after buffalo in either Australia, or Africa soon . . .

My ML was not regulated, nor were the other dozen or so I've heard about.

The .30/06 and .45/70's have some form or screw-driven regulating system. Perhaps the .450 Ex. does as well. I hope for over 6 grand, you get more than a long-chambered .45/70 version.

I always understood the Kodiak Mk IV's in .45/70 had fixed barrels?

If it is like the muzzle loaders, the price is achieved by cutting corners, eg regulation or lack of it, which is costly to do. We will see.

I am hoping it is a HUGE cut above the '06 and .45/70s.

Brother just took possession of his Pedersoli .45/70 Model 86/71 - it is incredibly nicely made - terrific colour case on the action, well finished - MUCH nicer than his Browning model 86 .45/70 or the NEW Winchesters, and the Pedersoli was only $1,700 landed here. The Browning model 86 was a LOT more. Thus, they can do it if they want.
