Cowboy Action shooting
      #280104 - 01/04/16 11:56 AM

Mine is the one on the top, in .50/95 Winchester Express.
With black powder, it runs 1,740fps with 300gr. and I'm clocking 1,745fps with smokeless and 360gr. FNs.

As for a Sharps, I make due with this.

Or this, when it wears the original .50/70 barrel.

What sort/manner of trouble with the gate, Tony? Is it .44-40 or .45 Colt & what make?

A guy can get carried away with this "sport".

A brace of Colt percussion cap and ball revolvers for that discipline, (1851's or 1860s or maybe if you've strong wrists, a brace of 1847 Walker Colt revolvers, pair of regular 1873 Colt revolvers in .45 - a .45 Colt Lightening, 12 bore shotguns, hammered or not, a Henry in .45 Colt, 1866 and or 1873 Winchesters, all in .45 to keep ammo easy, a 76 in .45/75, .45/60 or .50/95, and 86 in .45/70 & Sharps or Rolling Blocks in any calibrer are all for 'side bets'.

I think that about covers it, oh yeah, you'll need a tiny 1851 .32 Colt with conversion 32S&W cylinder for a vest pocket and maybe a couple Philly Derringers, made by Deringer or perhaps Uberti or Pedersoli finishes off the 'outfit'.

Daryl,

With the full 10rds in the mag after 1 or 2 rds fired the next rd jumps the tab and ends up inside the action and jams the lever

I tried different OAL rds and it happened with them all.

I only had the rifle for 3 mths so took it back and it was sent to Berretta, 2 mths ago.

I am still waiting to hear what the problem is and when its coming back.

The kicker was on the weekend the exact same thing happened to another guy with a Uberti 1866 and it was his first time on the range with it.

I have been told the new tabs are a problem and the guys in the US use JB Weld to strengthen the tabs.

I have some metal weld putty (Knead It, Steel) that I will put on mine when it comes back (eventually).

A bit annoying a $1700 rifle needs this though.

Its a 38 spcl.

In Aust I cant get a licence for over 38cal (pistols) until I have completed my probation period (12 mths). So I am getting two 357 Uberti El Patrons and got the 1866 to match so I am only reloading one type of ammo for my rifle and pistols.

I desperately want an 1874 Sharps but cant afford the $3k plus for a US made one (+ shipping to Aust, if I can get it sent). Pedersoli and Uberti have agents in Australia so I will be looking at them for around $2300/$2500 ish.

Any thoughts on Uberti V's Pedersoli?

I don't think I will be getting quite the full sweep you mention.

Years ago, Uberti were the best out of Italy. Now, I don't know which is better, but seems to me, it depends on the gun. I have been told quite bluntly, that the Uberti Model 1876's are the best. My bro has a Pedersoi Colt Lightening and it's super. I think maybe his Henry is also a Pedersoli.

I do know the Chiappa 76's are not even closely as good - I wasn't impressed. Not sure who makes the Chiappa guns.

This is funny!

I went to the Uberti site and was looking at their Sharps.

They certainly look nice and I intended to see if they import them here and what their prices are.

I then scrolled down and saw they had a manual on line. So I clicked on it and this is what came up.

PEDERSOLI DAVIDE & C. S.n.c.
PRODUZIONE ARMI ANTICHE E ACCESSORI
25063 GARDONE V.T. (BS) – ITALY
Via Artigiani, 57 – P. O. Box 150
Tel. 030.8915000 – fax 030.8911019

I suspect that Uberti are selling Pedersoli rifles
