What's the best place to start collecting bore rifles?
      #280035 - 30/03/16 01:49 PM

I mainly collect Mausers by various English makers, but I'd like to get into bore rifles as well. What's a good reference to pick up and what are the price points of the rifles from the different eras? I'd like to get a solid percussion 4, 6 or 8 bore first. I've been reading too much Samuel Baker!

Thank you!

If you are looking for a percussion bore rifle, start looking into the British auctions.
More stuff like that shows up there than anywhere else.

May we assume you are still looking for antique English rifles and bore guns, or are you looking for contemporary arms made today?

With classic hindsight for yourself, I would have bought at least 3 of the four bores at the recent James D Julia auction had it been in the UK, so look everywhere

Hindsight indeed.
Just saw that there were a couple at the Amoskeag auction this last weekend.

Funny, you don't see hardly any forever, then a bunch come onto the market!

Yes, just missed the Julia auction, hopefully there will be a few coming up in Holts next auction.
