yesterday I had the pleasure to help an older gentleman to load new 11,15x60 cartridges for his büchsflinte - combination gun now in use for over 100 years in his family. the old gun is allways prefers for a properly roe deer hunt.
the gun dont have any safety and is cock by the grip and uncock by the small lever behind. an unknown action to me but maybe someone here had seen it before.
there was the name of a dealer in Frankfurt /Main on the barrels.

the little lever uncock again

70 grains Swiss BP No. 2 under a 350 grains lead bullet

the buttstock was replaced sometimes in the last hundreds years

the gentleman still remember his first driven hunt as a boy when his grandfather was shooting two fallow deers in a second with the 11,15x60R in the right and a 16 ga brennecke in the left barrel with this gun

Very nice, Lancaster. Great stories too! Glad you helped him get it running again! He has my best wishes for success in his hunts

That buttstock looks to have been done very well! That fit is superb.

yes, a pleasure
only problerm was the older Bell brass he had. certainly not the quality of Horneber brass today just to soft so it get some bumbs when loaded and the rifle chamber was very tight.

It's a "Nimrod" TM safety gun by Thieme & Schlegelmilch, Suhl, 1852 – 1945. 1890 DRPatent # 56753 by Jacob Roehmer, Suhl, transferred to Thieme & Schlegelmilch the same year. Competed with little success with the more popular "Hubertus" safety guns, made by I. Meffert, Suhl, to forester Franz Feist's 1879 DRPatent # 7142.

BTW, this Meffert "Hubertus" was bought new by my grandfather's grandfather in 1893. Grandpa had two new sets of barrels made by E.Krausser, Zella - Mehlis, in 1940: Side by side 16-70 and combination 6.5x52R aka .25-35 Winchester - 16-70. Original damascus barrels destroyed by a GI in 1945.
