WOW!
I'm glad they included the case colored .500. I would have never been able to see where the action and forend hanger meet up.
While not a fan of over/unders, I can't imagine they get any better than this!

Is there much of a market for super high end O/U DRs?

In Europe O/U Double Rifles are more ordinary than side-by-side one's.

Just gorgeous work. Wonder what the price is?

Yeah, I know, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Otto & Gerhard are great admirers of the British designs and regarding actions,
the Robertson-Boss U/O is one of H&Ws flagship offerings.
The SxS Boss design is also their mainstay SxS action for shotguns ,and the Beesley for SxS rifles.
H&W are flexible in that they will build you a Beesley action gun with Boss single triggers
and Holland-southgate ejectors, in order to offer the best in style with the best mechanical design.

H&W also have engineered innovative improvements to the British designs,
examples of this are:
1 - springs built into the cocking rods and safety sears to eliminating parts & screws in its self-openers
2- Modification of the Boss single trigger turret for easier disassembly
3- Roller tips on mainsprings to eliminate the breakage prone tumbler link
4- where U/O ejectors cam on the action, hardened steel inserts are installed to prevent wear.

Otto Weiss did a good portion of tradesman time at Purdey, working with the likes of
Ken hunt, David Trevallion, and Peter Nelson( who later worked for H&W in Hamburg,
when after 16yrs he left H&W to open his own gunmaking business).

H&W enthusiastically incorporate modern-sophisticated metallurgy in the production of their rifles and shotguns
and were one of the pioneering firms to have introduce CAD/ CNC technology for bespoke rifle production
along with Fabbri and Westley Richards.

H&W in 1980 made available a totally new production high quality modern Cro-molly steel magnum Mauser action,
based on the original Oberndorf blueprints, even down to the detail of Mausers orig. reinforced left lug design which
was primarily to accomodate the rim of the .505 Gibbs.- One thing HW did change to the orig. Oberndorf drawing
design was to extend the front receiver ring/ barrel tenon thread, by a few short millimetres.

#- the only thing I don't like about H&W and its only a small issue that has no bearing on the excellent products ,
are the sales staff they have at their SCI booth, they have the typical shallow fancy pitch to prospective customers but
seem to know next to nothing about the technical detail side of products, for that you really need to speak to Otto.
