G'Day Fella's,

I thought I initially also posted this on NE before........ but apparently not!

Homer, I run Aimpoints and believe them to be superior to other reflex type sights. One problem I have read about with the Trijacon sight you have is the dot/screen can be washed out when looking anywhere near the sun. Just what I have heard.

Do not think of a red dot as a short range only type sight, not that you would use a 45LC for long range shooting, but if you can see your target and know your hold over they work out far. This is where Aimpoint have an advantage in they are parallax free. I have shoot game out to 250mts and targets at 500mts using Aimpoints. So what ever range you want to shoot to with your Trijacon, go for it. As you can see by your target they are accurate.

Go for it, Homer. I used to practice on a standard ram silhouette laying on the 320 meter berm at our "Town" range with my 4", M29.

I was usually good for 5 out of 6, 6 odd time, both hands resting on sand bags.

Your rifle will do amazingly well at even longer ranges.

Elmer Keith is noted as saying that hitting at long range with a handgun was purely accidental, but if you practice at long range with your handgun, you'll have more long range accidents than someone who doesn't.

Same goes for rifle shooting.

My 16" bl. Model 94Trapper in .45 Colt used 25.0gr. W296 with a .452" 300gr.FNHP from a modified .458" RCBS 300gr. mould (I lubed then re-sized them). They were amazing & accurate as well, running around 1,550fps. I used that load to shoot 2 elk.
This load was reported to run .44 mag pressures in .45 Colt cases though R. Sefreid's testing many years ago.

I use an Aimpoint H30L and H34L for most of my hunting and love using them.

Rule 303 and Daryl, thank you for your kind comments and advice!

I do use an Aimpoint Comp C3 sight, on my Rem 673 in .350 Rem Mag and as you say/know, it is not just a close range rifle set up!
As I get older, my eye sight (along with so many other bits of me), isn't getting any better, so these keep me shootin OK!

As you mention Rule303, when I was sighting this in, I noticed that there was an amount of reflection (from the Sun) "interference"(?), on the rear of the lens. But it was around 12 Noon, so that may explain this.

Apart from the price ($800.00 Aus$), these little Trijicon sights are the Duck Guts, on this style of rifle!
