I too have seen that rifle on GI. I wondered why they have chosen a 3,5" to only 62grain blueDot powder + a 940grain leadbullet!. It could have fitted well into a 2 7/8" case....and had been more effecient too.

Are you talking of doing the same bullet on the shorter 2 7/8" shell?

Nice 10 bore. .775" is 10 bore. Round ball that size weighs, in pure lead weighs 700gr. obviously. 940gr. bullet is very short, considering the .600 Nitro uses a 900gr. bullet.
The 60gr. to 62gr. load would fit in the shorter case, easily, however it would also produce slightly higher velocity and higher pressure. Seems to me, the re-make should have been able to handle it, maybe not due to legal protection issues?
With plastic wads, a normal Blue Dot load with 2 1/2 ounces shot rarely exceeds 40gr. according to my Lyman shotshell book. The 940gr. barely makes 2 1/8oz. weight.
I was sure I had loaded 54.0gr. with paper wads in 3" plastic cases in my AYA with 2ounces #8 1/2's for decoyed ducks and snipe. Lyman's book stops around 43.0gr. with plastics in 3 1/2" cases. Got 27 snipe with one shot, once, ground-sloused them on a mud bank.

Heck of a shot Daryl lol, 27 in one shot. That 10 bore caught my eye mostly because my dad has one of the 3 1/2" doubles from the early 40's.

yeah - they were really close together on that littlemound of mud. I didn't know how many I got until we paddled over and picked them all up. There was only one or two that flew away. 590 per ounce for the #8 1/2's.

What's that thing hanging between the muzzles?
Other than that, good looking set in my opinion.
