Does anyone have any knowledge and/or experience of this South African gunmaker? The rifles on his webpage look very nice, in a traditional British style.

Have a look: http://craigklintworth.com/

I've been told by friends of mine in RSA that he makes very high quality products. But if they are actually worth the high prices he demands, I don't know.

He does excellent work......but a bit pricey for South Africa. You might want to take a look at www.sabirifles.co.za

hello honey badger

(i always think of robert ruark's novel when i see the words "honey badger".....)

i have only seen one of klintworth's rifles up-close-and-personal. a dealer from whom i have bought a lot of rifles has a klintworth .375 H&H on a mauser 98 type action which i believe was made in SA.

i looked over this rifle carefully at several gunshows where the dealer (tyler jones from "sportsman's access" in penryn california) was displaying that gun amongst a hundred other fine longguns.

the workmanship was excellent. he was asking $6,000 for it in 95+% condition. i priced the rifle at klinworth's website and it looked like it would be double the price quoted for the used rifle.

the fit and finish were very good, and the action was very well-tuned, slick-working, but i had no dummy rounds with me to check the feeding.

regards

lapsub
