I recently sent my head spinning researching finishes for my M1 Garand and M1 Carbine, so I wanted to ask here what the best products for maintaining the wood furniture on my Steyr M-S High velocity Rifle are?
I certainly do not want to refinish the stock, just preserve the wood and bring back the shine. I do not hunt with this rifle, so it does not get out in harsh weather.
My initial ignorant thoughts were either:
- Tung Oil
- Johnson's paste wax
- Renaissance micro-crystalline wax polish (which I use on my collectible knives).
Also, does the interior of the stock need any care, or is it better to leave the bare wood in contact with the action?
