Ben: Very good eye. The Karl Kormes is one of the better guild rifles I've seen. It is a DSB ,solid wall magnum length action. I suspect the caliber is 6.5x68s (an older German hunting round) which is a Schuler (Vom Hofe) caliber. I don't know of a 6x68s round. RIA has no clue when it comes to vintage Mauser stuff. A good buy for someone. The Type S in 7x57 is a very early rifle before Mauser called it a Type S. S/N 17692 puts it at 1906. The rifle above that one looks like a Type M in 8x57 built in 1923. All good buys.

Why 6,5x68 ? Text just says 8x68 which, as you should know, was and still is very common caliber in Germany, developed in the 1930s by August Schüler of the August Schüler Waffenfabrik, Suhl.

Both the 8x68S and 6.5x68 were developed neither by vom Hofe nor by Schüler, but by RWS, the ammo company, 8x68S in 1939,6.5x68 in 1940.

Igorrock: In the RIA item description of the Karl Kormes rifle, it says that the "caliber is partially mismarked, reads 6x68s". This is the reason I suspect it is a 6.5x68s. I hope this clears up my statement.

The "6" maybe an "8" stamp, applied at an oblique angle.

Yeah, my guess is a mis-stamped "8" especially if that is read on the barrel.

Still, what a great rifle to get your hands on!

first time ever I see a Mauser 98 rifle for the 7x61 Sharpe & Hart, of course made by Schultz&Larsen

http://huntershouse.dk/kat408-Rifler/side1963-Schultz-Larsen,Otterup,-Mauser-98.html

two 8x57IS Mauser's by S&L
http://huntershouse.dk/kat408-Rifler/side1970-Schultz-Larsen-M.98.html
http://huntershouse.dk/kat408-Rifler/side623-Schultz-Larsen,-Otterup,-model-98.html

I would say made in the late 1940s to 1950s, basic but inexpensive and fine working guns for every day

this must be one of the rare Gewehrfabrik Erfurt sporter - stemplet “GwF.E”
8x57IS sold by Poulsen/Copenhagen http://huntershouse.dk/kat408-Rifler/side560-P.-Poulsen,-Kj%C3%B8benhavn.html

another german mauser in 8x57is made for Poulsen

Hello Dear , how are you . I would like the help of friends in the identification of this Mauser rifle that I have , because I have no knowledge of the model , year of manufacture, etc. I do not even know the real gauge of manufacturing . Could anyone help me ?
Grateful.

What confuses me more is the same numbering has two , one in action and another in the pipe. And the fact of the pipe have different external diameters , which could not find anywhere else in my research .

Geverson, your rifle is a Commercial Mauser, Oberndorf, sporting rifle type B. Accordingt the 77765 serial number it was made in 1913. Later, likely in Brazil, it was rebarreled with a Mauser Military rifle barrel, probably in 7x57, the former Brazilian military cartridge. Over the years Brazil bought many miltary Mauser rifle models in 7x57 to equip it's army and various police forces. The original Mauser stock, action and bottom metal were retained. The Mauser rear sight sleeve was attached to the "new" barrel. The front sight and it's base are not original, as is the crudely fitted rubber recoil pad. The front sling swivel is a replacement too, simply screwed into the foreend. The stepped barrel is typical for most military Mauser rifles, from 1898 on. The steps allowed the military barrels to expand lengthwise from heating up, without altering wood to metal pressure.

I would add that the bolt appears to be a replacement, possibly from a G33/40 Czech Mauser with its hollow bolt knob. A bridge base has been fitted to the original Suhler Einhackmontage (claw mount) bases in the single square bridge and in the receiver ring.

In my eyes it looks more like flattened and then checkered:

the .22 is an interesting one, to bad about the wormholes in the stock but believe you can just filled this and it will stand the recoil of the rimfire fo a long time
