Reproduction of old gun parts
      #277917 - 13/02/16 07:39 PM

I've been giving some thought to reproduction of certain old gun parts, sights, mounts, etc.that are hard to obtain but of great interest to the collecting fraternity. Some examples:

Griffin and Howe single lever side mount (top only)
Tangent rear sight for Mauser ES350B or MS350B
Supergrade sling swivels
Mauser bolts (for original sporters and .22s)

The thought is to obtain the original drawings and/or supply a sample of the original part and have the parts precision manufactured under contract, paying royalties if necessary to the holders of the patents.

Any thoughts on the ins and outs of this? I do recall a .350 Rigby offered a few years ago by George Caswell which had a newly manufactured bolt that looked exactly like the original, so I may also ask him.

Someone should reproduce Mauser Sporter front sight hoods. Even the old reproductions are hard to find. And how about quality C96 broomhandle lanyard rings. They are like hens teeth.

Great thought.

I would love to have a source for really high quality Original Mauser Sporter bolts, in kurz, intermediate and standard lengths, if the price was reasonable.

Seems like they would be a lot of work to produce, however, perhaps even more difficult to make than the receivers.
