Always looking for actions and barrels for projects there's a barrel in 333 on the net a the right price any thoughts on the .333 Jeffery or the .333 okh maybe a lees Enfield action or I have a pre 64 model 70 I could use for the okh.

Bullet availability? If that was no problem, perhaps - but I'd go the OKH on a M70 action.

The OKH uses a .30-06 size pattern case where as the Jefferey uses the .530" base size unbelted case of the .404 but with quite a bit more body taper.I don't remember an O.A.L. for the .333 Jefferey, but with the 300's it will need a 3.500" magazine box length. I have had one original rifle and associated with 2 others and they where all magnum size Mausers.

Re bullets, you can always get a swaging die and swage 338 bullets down to 333 if you want soething different to the Woodleigh's.

Yes - you can - I had forgotten about re-sizing (doh) when I put in my comment, but almost instantly I thought, my buddy Keith has a Lee set for reducing .338's to .330 for his straight pull 8x56R.

Lee will sell you the same 3-die set - probably around $100.00.

The Winchester is just begging to be an OKH.
If a Mauser, then the 333 Jeff.
On an Enfield, the Jeff would be appropriate too.
I have brass, some bullets and dies for the Jeffery if you get serious about this project.
There is a 334 OKH which was based on the 300/375 H&H case but I am thinking it used a .338" bullet.
Or.... You could build a .333 Griffin & Howe Super Magnum on that barrel. That is simply a .334 OKH with a .333" bullet.
There is only one of those rifles that I am aware of and it is in my safe. Maybe I should hold on to those .333" bullets...

It seems that, for example, .300 RUM would be a quite good donor when making .333 rimless case.

Acc to Tom Turpin (?)

The .333 OKH was based upon a .30-06 case necked up to a .33 caliber bullet, and the .334 OKH used a shortened .375 H&H case necked down for the same bullet. The .338 Winchester Magnum also used a shortened and blown-out .375 H&H case, necked down to accept a .338 caliber bullet.

Yep, you're right, the 334 used the same .333" bullet with the H&H case.
My .333 G&H uses a full length H&H case which I guess is a 350G&H necked down which is a 375H&H necked down...

I can vouch for the .333Jeffery. Really no need for more than 3 bullets for that caliber...1)300grain SP....2)300grain solid...3)250grain spitzer.

The COL for the 300grain softpoint in .333Jeffery is: 88,5mm(That's how I load mine)

333 Jeffery for nostalgia, but if you simply want the same performance look at the 338-06

Hmm - I'd always thought the .334 was the full length case with standard taper, just necked up.

so I checked one of my books.

According to J.J.Donnelly's book, it's 2.80", .050" shorter than normal .375 Length & has a .437" shoulder diameter with 39.09 degree shoulder angle. The shoulder is listed .010" smaller in diameter than the parent case. Interesting.
